Hi Fa2020,

Are you sure that the motherboard supports DDR4?

+1 Anker Vertical mouse (wired) user. After one morning using it and I'm converted! Very light and fast, the only downside is not having support for the small finger (pinky?) and it tends to rub on the mouse pad.

Hi Josh,

It's very annoying! But it's optional:
In the material editor, in the "Options" Menu, 1st or 2nd option is "Propagate Materials to Instances", turn it off!

What do you guys have against the free and native RDP from Windows? It works super fine for me, even over the internet. Only drawback is to have fixed IP in the remote machines.

I would steer away from the Green WD's for project and data. At least Blue if you can't afford the Black ones. I've got WD Green for backup only, they are notoriously slow and go to "sleep" quite fast.

I suggest you to wait the new AMD CPU and real benchmark.
Maybe it will be more convenient to build an AMD WS. We will see soon.

There's already a price drop in Intel CPU's in the US at some retailers.

Thanks Tom for the quick reply. I never used fusion but just tried "mixing" the light select elements in photoshop using screen mode and curves and it works fine! I'll try to animate them in After Effects.

Hi all,

Is it possible to save a lightmixer animation? I mean with a render finished is it possible to save a short animation from the VFB with lights dimming?

Hardware / Re: CPU cooling: push vs pull
« on: 2016-07-15, 21:29:22 »
Hi Romullus,

I think that air cooling is not an exact science :). There are many variables in the equation, if the case is well ventilated it probably won't do great difference..  So there's nothing like testing in same conditions for both setups. A few years ago I made some tests with different setups (positive vs negative pressure, push vs pull) and it was quite random results... An old I7-2600k with a CM Hyper 212 Evo "scored" around 2ยบ Celsius cooler in pull setup comparing with push setup. I also tested push and pull (2 fans) on  I7-3930k with an Hyper 212 Evo and there was no difference between push+pull and just push.

That motherboard is EEB form factor. The case you choosed is the CM Trooper right? According to their website it supports only micro-ATX, ATX and XL-ATX, I'm not sure if it is compatible, is it? Also have you checked if you have enough space for the coolers and if it is "tall" enough to fit above the ram?

Hi Jurah,

I'm from Portugal and also had a HX650 that "died" shortly after 2 years old. The PSU has 5 years warranty but after the 2nd year I have to support the costs of shipping the in-warranty PSU (at least its what my hardware supplier told me) and they sent me a brand new HX750i free of charge.

Edit: I'm not sure but I think the only PSU's made by Seasonic are the ones from the AX line. Coincidentally I only bought CWT made Corsair PSU's (HX650, HX750i and RM650).

Hi've bought Core i7-3930k, core i7-4930k and core i7-5960X (not at once but along the past few years for my builds!) in box versions and none of them brought stock cooler.
About PSU's and altough I'm a fan of Corsair (never bought any from other brand) RM750 and RM850 had thermal issues that might have been corrected by now but check Corsair Forums to be sure first! I own a RM650 with a i7-4930K and a GTX760 and never saw the fan spinning neither in rendering or gaming wich means the PSU never reach the load necessary to heat enough to trigger the fan cooling. Also never had issues with this PSU but it's only 2 years old.

Great render!

If i had to point anything would be that its missing the disclaimer "no animal was harmed in the making of this image"

Thanks Juraj,

Theres a lot of chamfering (geometry) all around but I might have done it too subtle for this distance.
I will follow your advice on blur (already read your suggestion in someone else's post) and play a bit in photoshop.

Hardware / Re: Advice on new Workstation for beginner
« on: 2015-10-14, 21:14:35 »

Is there any particular reason for choosing the Western Digital Purple? This line (purple) is designed for surveillance purposes (fast writing of data and slow reading speed).
I would suggest WD Black (5 year warranty) if it suits your budget or Blue if you want to save for now. The Red ones are suited for NAS and the Green ones are best suited for backups.
