[C4D] I need help! / shifting tile map
« on: 2024-12-17, 09:18:23 »
I was trying the tile map. got the projection on world or object and the plane suited for the wall i was projecting it on. But the seams of the tiles where not on the place i wanted them to be. Normaly on the texture setting of the material applied to the model you offset it U or V but it's not working. I feel like in the past this worked so am I going crazy or is it something that doesn't work in the latest version?

If you turn the sky object into a shader/hdri object you can then pick plugins>corona>sky. Then you can add stuff like color correction etc to it like a normal shader.

[C4D] I need help! / roughness map opacity
« on: 2024-09-23, 08:16:37 »
I have been watching some tutorials online where they are using max and when they plug a map into the roughness they are able to adjust the roughness  value like say 60% and add a map that they can change the percentage of how much it's used to mix both.
We can do this for the base color where we got the mix strenght slider but thats the only place we can do this in c4d. I know i could replicate it by using a layer shader and instead of a roughness value use a greyscale color and then we can lower the opacity of the map we use but this feels less natural. Is there any other way we can do this in c4d or are we just missing the future?

used it a little bit for textures so far but little bit hit and miss on quality and sizes. Also used it to get design ideas for interiors.

WOW, spectacular work. love it

Did you try using legacy material?

Just for future use perhaps: In Cinema you can use the 'Film move/zoom/magnify' tools (hit shift-C to find them) to move around the scene or zoom in on a part of it without affecting the perspective. This means you can get right up close to a small area and render it any size you like and it will still match your main view. Cool!

Best to copy your camera first then you can keyframe the 'offset X/Y' should you want to render more than one part. This is a good way to render super huge images. Just animate the camera offset once you've zoomed in so it makes 'tiles' of your image and then comp them in photoshop. I've rendered 30,000 pixel pics like this with no memory issues.. :-)

You can also use this tool to preview a specific area of your scene in the Corona interactive renderer without changing the perspective. Just copy your camera and use the tool to get right up close without worrying about your 'proper' camera. Nice.

Great tip! never knew this one myself. Thank you

Did you try the optimise command? select the model and press U then O. This sometimes is needed to have the model show correctly after a import.

[C4D] General Discussion / Re: Material ID
« on: 2020-05-25, 09:54:01 »
When creating your second materials did you copy the first material and adjusted that? Because that way the material will have the same color when you do a Id based on material.
If you create a new materials for the second material and apply that you will get a different color.
Or you can try a different mode then material. I always do material, instance and object to have more choice. Or you can add specific masks with material ID numbers but that's more work.

Looks like the image you see first is without tone mapping. Turn it off and see if you get that image.
But most likely you just need to adjust your exposure settings.
