Hi Ryuu

Just uploaded the scene, test around frame 2900 when there is the most amount of particles, I didn't uploaded the particle cache because it is around 3 gigs of files, if you need it just let me know.

I just recently finished a project in which I had to make some animations and FX for a video mapping on a Hotel. I used particle flow for one of the effects, nothing really complicated, just some particles moving randomly creating some trails, the only particular thing about this project is that I was using a lot of particles to create the trails.

Using corona renderer the "Transforming Vertices" stage is really slow, around 30 seconds , rendering itself takes less than one second.

I already researched the problem in the forums for a solution, but my specific case is not related to any other of the reported instances of the slow parsing time, I am not working from a network drive and I am not using Particle MBlur.

I made some testing with simple materials with and without particle age map and this issue seems to be related specifically to the amount of geometry generated derived from the amount of particles being rendered, I tested with and without particle cache and tried with different shapes and shape instances and the shape with the least amount of triangles was the fastest to parse.

I tested with different versions of corona all with the same results, when using Vray, Arnold and native scanline the render just starts right away.

I ended up using Arnold to render this effect as it was the only rendering engine that was able to give me the same visual results I was looking for without the added parsing time but I wanted to let you know about this "issue" as I love to work with corona and would like to see this addressed.

Thanks!

Thanks Ondra, just wanted to let you know about it in case it wasn't normal, I added an exception in the antivirus and downloaded the file.

This is really weird, I am getting a positive malware diagnosis from avast when trying to download RC3, RC2 is ok.

This is a personal project I made during a streaming session on twitch, just for fun.

All modeling done in zbrush.

Render in 3ds max and Corona.

@noel20

Glad you liked it and thanks for reminding me about the peach fuzz, definitely something I want to add but always find myself forgetting about it.

@maru

I agree with you on the softness and it's something I've been struggling a lot, have done many different iterations and when I change the parameters I feel it drops off too quick to the other side and the skin starts to look too hard.
Thanks for the tip on the 2 layer reflection, definitely gonna try that and hope it helps along with the peach fuzz and higher frequency detail I am planning on adding later. Glad you liked the eyes!

@Bigguns

Thanks man! Hair is totally wip right now, it's just a reference as it helps me judge better how is the overall piece turning out, I agree with you on the high frequency, I think it's the next step.
I'm really looking forward to hair and skin shaders, hair shader has been really tricky as I've never done one from scratch before.
What do you mean with multi lobe reflection?

Hi Everybody!

I want to share with you a project I am currently working on, haven't had time to continue with this for a couple of months but I hope I can finally finish it in the next weeks.

It is a 3D scan of a friend of mine done with agisoft, this is already cleaned and refined.

Really struggled with the SSS settings to get a look that I liked and ended up with what I would call, weird extreme settings.

C&C are welcome.
