Hey guys!
Been a while. Here goes my entry for the Automotive CGI group contest. I have never done a diorama before, so I really enjoyed creating something less realistic than what I do usually.
Enjoy

It's been a while since I posted anything.
This was my attempt at forced creativity in order to evade depression due to mandatory quarantines.
Luckily Duron Automotive released his free HDRI pack just the day after ( perfect timing )

I've always loved scenes with smoke implemented. Therefore I got to play a few hours with Phoenix FD. It was a major failure from my part, so I ended up using a single smoke I managed to render out somewhat properly and postprocess the living day out of it. You will see the same 5x1 smoke everywhere.
Obviously had to spread the smoke with something, so hey...drones.

Vehicle is a C63 AMG Mercedes
HDRI Provided by Duron Automotive. ( Please check him out and buy his entire stock) They are all great

Hello everyone

Been a while since I rendered anything automotive. Or... in Corona.
This was my entry for this month's Automotive CGI group competition

We kept it realistic, so we used no HDRI, but lights and blockers.

Model was created by Szymon Kubicki

Hello everyone,
Here's the latest set I shot and rendered.

I took the plates and dome at around 4-5AM in my city. I almost got arrested/fined 3 times (yuck) trying to get on top of that bridge and somehow capturing a better angle. Obviously 3 police cars had to pass by and start asking questions.

The plates were shot on a 80D Canon paired with a 8mm Rokinon, 18-55mm kit and a 50mm 1.8 prime.

Comments are welcome.

Great Pictures, but wouldn't the Mercedes Logo inside the wheel spokes be blurred by motion blur as well? Or is this intended?

Other than that, this is by far the ugliest car Mercedes has ever produced, it just looks so unbalanced and unproportional.

They are spinning too. I guess their shape makes it look stationary. I noticed it on photography too, the star is barely blurred. If you zoom into mine, they have a little shift aswell, but barely visible even from close.

I will never like the newest Mustang.
So if that's any consolation to my horrible taste on the GLE and GLC.

I'm the first who's going to bitch about a car (almost all of them), but I just can't with this...nor with the GLC.
I was told by everyone how ugly it is, but I just don't see it.

Something might be wrong with me.

Hello everyone,

I had the pleasure of shooting some domes and backplates the last few months.
I am fascinated with photography and CG, and it makes these images more unique for me, since I have a long adventure getting to these locations, or at least most of these locations that I am shooting now.
It went from pasted in cars, to actual stories, at least for me.

I used a Canon 80D with a 8mm Rokinon for the domes, a 50mm1.8 and a kit 18-55mm
Most of the plates were shot at sunrise during the summer, in Romania.

I got a small breakdown for the composition and some location shots aswell. Just so I don't upload 20 images, you can find it on my Behance : https://www.behance.net/robertbodis

If I plug the backplate there, I get dark windows and the windows are refracting the backplate on bits that are basically covered out by the seats.

I haven't joined in the conversation between you two gentleman, because my knowledge is still not thorough enough about the subject.

However. Blunt idea.
Getting correct results is possible. Via the plane.  So the end result is achievable.
What if the camera or the material has an option, that will make selected objects act as if they were Glass with a back-plane behind them ,determined angle by the camera and its target.

I'm only spit balling ideas here.
Would that be possible in some way ?

13
Obviously it would have no camera movement.

Let's just say a car spinning around.
Try out another theory with this then. Start scaling up the plate behind the vehicle, simulating the upscaled plane idea you just told me.
Now check the reflections on the vehicle.

You will be able to see the big plane on your clear coat.

Obviously you could haggle it out with a regular vehicle. However if I would have 500 frames to render, it would be hard to spot where that thing reflects up on the vehicle.
For most this would give a stroke after 500 frames.

Then there would be another issue if it's a bigger vehicle, god forbid a Sci-fi thing.

I will just ignore your tone there and ask you a simple question instead.

What if I want to animate something.
I.e. a vehicle moving across the scene. I guess you would prefer animating a plane behind the vehicle instead of coming up with a proper solution, don't you ?

"And how would you suggest resolving it differently? "
Doubt I am the one who should have the answers for this.

Hugs,

Moving the plane further away did stop the blackening.
However this is still a lot of work for such a simple , hate to call it "issue" .

I really hope they will add some sort of a direct override for this in the future.
If I'd have objects around the vehicle, I'd be screwed with this plane.

Thank you,
