Was wondering if Tyflow instancing / motionblur was still being considered?

Gallery / Future Islands video rendered in Corona
« on: 2020-07-16, 18:14:45 »
I did this video alone during quarantine with corona renderer. Thought I should share here!

I learned a lot in terms of production with big massive sets using corona. One of the biggest difficulties for me on this one was dealing with Forest Pack slowdowns that seem to be a new issue (recent few versions). Vray doesn't have the same issue. There's a big loss of interactivity. But Corona was amazing otherwise. One other issue was a difficult thing not having Tyflow work with instancing while using corona. Let me know if you have questions about the process, happy to answer!!

The car is travelling about 70mph and the wheels spinning. With motion blur on for geometry and camera the renderer wigs out.

I've recorded a screen capture of what happens. The renderer seems to glitch and get stuck at the subsampling phase?

I'm wondering if anyone has encountered this issue. I'm working at Meters. I was working at CM before as I thought it was a math issue with scene units. but in both cases the issue is the same.

How do I fix this? Seems to happen at random.

[Max] Feature Requests / super basic composite in the VFB
« on: 2018-02-22, 17:31:18 »
I know this would only help some of us but it would be such a huge help.

Just the ability to add an image layer behind and/or in front of the 3D render. I know it's getting a little complex but I'm doing so much of my work in the VFB these days with all the great comp tools.

necessarily that image layer should retain it's alpha. and then ideally a 2D transform possibility.

For arch viz im sure it would be helpful

for automotive the background could be a still layer

for illustration and collage like I do it would be a huge help!

anyway,
thanks :)

- Great guys! thanks for responses.

So Max is never crashing when I have this issue, it's just 10second hang everytime I move / change something inside the scene while interactive preview is running. (Does this still create a minidump ?)

I think Totinguis and I have the same issue.

Happens regardless of the material editor being open / regardless of the material editor being set to render previews or not.

It seems as though corona is giving processor priority to the renderer rather than the UI which is counter productive (just a guess)

My computer has a lot of cores maybe that is the thing that's unusual about my set up?

2x Intel Xeon E5-2690 @ 3.00ghz so there are 40 cores.
64gb ram
3dsmax 2016

Will try and figure out how to share minidumps

Thanks.

Don't think that's what I'm talking about. this is the UI of max hanging every time I tweak something (such as move an object or light) as the interactive renderer is running.

[Max] I need help! / Responsiveness - Corona 1.1 VS 1.2-1.5
« on: 2016-09-14, 21:01:11 »
Does anyone else have this same issue?

I run corona 1.1 most of the time for working because I can leave the interactive render running and I don't get a stall whenever a make a change in my scene.

In every version after 1.1 I get a stall when I move a light or change a setting. It's very difficult to work that way by comparison.

hey all! wanted to mention that we used corona for 1/2 of this tv commercial. It's two 30 second spots kind of squeezed together and we used modo for the first half then Corona and 3dsmax for 2nd half (baloons etc.)

Ondra - yes I have but it doesn't look nearly as nice. This is lots of craggy old architecture. . I have displacement at 1px and it wasn't slow at all. 87 million primitives.

Geometry took 10-20 seconds to cook.

With the new adaptive displacement. closer to 20 minutes.

Seems wrong that I should have to lower the quality of displacement with 1.2.

loving other improvements BTW. The fixed edges on displacement is huge.

great stuff!

one thing...;

I'm going to argue that until adaptive displacement is sped up it would be really useful to be able to turn it off.

My scene with lots of displacement has used to take 10sec for geometry to cook. now it takes 20 minutes and most of the time crashes the machine.
