[Max] I need help! / Re: Corona and virtual reality content
« on: 2016-04-02, 07:50:41 »
Hi everyone!
I've just tried to render stereoscopic 3d in corona. I was able to get a spherical image 2:1 ratio at 2048px (so left+right gives me a 2048x2048 image)
It works fine in my samsung gear vr, but theres a slight distortion near the poles. I did not get this problem with v-ray, since it renders a 12x1 cubestrip with resolution 1536x18432px
Can I just increase the resolution when rendering a spherical projection in corona, or is there a way to render a cubemap instead?
(Somehow I get the impresion that gear vr requires spherical panos to be at 2048px, just as it requires the cubestrips to be exactly 1536px height or else gear vr will display visible seams at the edges of each cubeface)
Kind regards
/Fredrik Simu

Update: OK, I just tried to increase resolution to 4096x4096. Works like a charm in samsung gear vr. Still a slight visible distortion at the top pole, but nothing I can't live with. I love the fact that i can save and view a preview after only 5 minutes of rendering :-)

Installdir has C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max Design 2014\

Yes, I used the installer.
When the drserver.exe is run the first time, it creates the drconfig.txt file (Since it is not created by the installer)

No. We didn't move 3dsmax.
For some reason the folder windows usually names "program files" is called only "program" in the swedish windows7
The "real" path is indeed program files, but swedish version of c: folder still calls it "program" (Maybe it's a language-shell on top?)
Either way it causes corona DR to fail initialising 3dsmax unitl I changed the ini file. I'm surprised no one else (in sweden) came across this error.
And the problem is fixed by modifying the corona ini-file.

We couldn't get our DR-nodes to work with alpha6. Corona DR was unable to start 3dsmax.
We changed one of the lines in the DrConfig.txt
Default line is 2014 C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max Design 2014\
Changed to 2014 C:\Program\Autodesk\3ds Max Design 2014\

Now our DR nodes respond properly.

[Max] I need help! / Re: Revert scene from A7 to A6
« on: 2015-03-03, 12:02:04 »
It actually worked flawlessly :-)
My mistake was that although I had uninstalled A7, I forgot to install A6. So 3dsmax basically just complained that no Corona renderer was present at all when I tried to open my scene.
So, problem solved but thanks for the quick reply :-)

[Max] I need help! / Revert scene from A7 to A6
« on: 2015-03-03, 08:26:29 »
Hi everyone!
We're not able to buy the 1.0 release just yet, but I've got a A7 scene that i need to render. Is there a way to revert the scene back to A6 so I could render it with the free version?
