Just an update. I succeeded using the method of pixelab. You need to check the resolution of your image in sketchup (file export 2d image) that is the ratio you need to set in 3dsmax (in render settings). Than you also need to make sure the FOV is the same. For more  control over the camera you can convert the standard camera to a physical cam (found a script online). Than you can vertical shift if needed (i found that usefull to position the composition better). I tried it and the linework from sketchup can be overlayed on top of the rendered image. It is a bit of a work around but it seems to work.

Thanks for the input! I will give it a try with adjusitng the camera's to fit the sketchup scenes, but it seems like a lot of work if you have multiple views/cameras. I quess i will stick to my method using Blender/Cycles and not make it a lot more difficult.

Yes i am aware of the knowledge of Alex Hogfrefe. He really does a lot of great tutorials. Also that is the workflow i use too, but than at the moment i use Blender/Cycles for rendering as the cameras match exactly. Alex Hogrefe does it all inside sketchup as for what i can read on his website (vray for sketchup).
But i would love to use corona for it because of the double work by using two different kind of software. Guess it has to do with 3DsMax being the problem.

Hi thanks for your reply!

Yes i tried Ctexmap but didn't find it much convenient and as nice as the different styles in Sketchup. Also my employee really likes the sketchy lines for previz works (mostly exteriors). So for these visualisations I need to drop Max/Corona and switch to Blender as this workflow works really neat. In blender the imported Sketchup Scenes are exactly the same as in sketchup.

But it would be really nice to have this method working in Corona/Max.

Hi guys,

My workflow at our architecture is modelling, texturing and camera placement in Sketchup. We then import it into max to render with corona.
But now i also want to overlay the sketchup lines (exported as jpeg) in photoshop on top of the rendered image. The problem is that the cameras imported into max don't line out to the original scene in sketchup.
Does anyone have experience with this problem?

Thanks for the replies!

I did not know about the "view - proof colors". Does this show the image in CMYK format? I found adding a photofilter, in green or yellow, to counterbalance the blueish tint in the image also helped a bit. But unfortunately the print did not came out as nice as on screen.

Hi Guys,

A printing related question. So far all my daytime renders print out very well. What i see on my screen is looking very similair on what i print. But now i rendered an evening scene, with lots of blues. And when i print it, it turns out very bleached and grey. The nice blues in the render is very dull. Similair colorshift is visible when setting the render in photoshop from RGB to CMYK. I alrealy showed the nice screen version to my employer, so i really want to print it like that.

Do you guys have any tips with this problem?

Whaha, Cheers Proh.

Didn't try using 0-1 (decimals). I tried al kind of degrees but all whole numbers, so it didn't change the sky ;-)

Hi Guys,

I have a problem with rotating my HDRI is loaded in my environment (8). I used CoronaBitmap to load the HDRI. When i rotate it with 'Angle W'it seems to rotate (not in the correct axis of course). But using the U offset nothing seems to happen. I use Corona 1.5 with 3ds Max 2017.

Hi guys,

I just bought myself a license for VFB+ as the trial i used worked very nicely with Corona Render. Now i also want to play around with the LUT settings. Can someone tell me where i can get good (free) lut files?

Thanks!

Thanks guys for your comments! In my opinion the day shots are overexposed too. I really had a hard time getting it nice in postproduction. Not sure what is the best way. I tried getting the blue sky back with arionFX (saved the render as a 32 bit exr). But i did not get the desired result :-(

Hi Guys,

Wanted to share my own project. Worked on it on and off for a couple of months in my spare time. Design is my own, built up from references of Nordic houses and sheds. Software used:

Modeling: Sketchup and 3ds max
Trees and plants: Evermotion Archmodels
Render: Corona
Postproduction: ArionFX and photoshop

I am still not completely satisfied. I had difficulties colorcorrecting the images. Not sure if ArionFx is the best tool for me. I would love to hear comments from you guys so i can improve. Thanks a lot!

(PS i know the closeup shot has horrible spiky displacement on the stones, but i had no time altering it as i needed the images to be put into my portfolio ;-)

[Max] I need help! / [solved]How to load VFB+
« on: 2016-06-22, 13:36:58 »
Hi guys,

Can someone maybe explain to me  how i can load VFB+ in 3Ds max 2014. I am hearing positive posts on this forum so i wanted to give it a try. But i can't seem to find how to open VFB+ I can only see/render using the Corona VFB. I put the file in the plugins folder, it loaded on startup, but than i can't seem to find it?

Thanks!
