I have seen this happen before and always linked it to my RAM being maxed. Not sure if it is also in your scenario?

If so optimisation is the way forward.

Ok Thanks for the information. We seem to have this rare error across multiple machines!

BUMP, ?

I am distributing an animation via back burner to slaves running the server and this error message is popping up?

Hardware / 4k Monitors - Suggestions
« on: 2019-01-17, 12:10:23 »
Just wondering how many people are using 4k Monitors in a production environment?

-How has your experience been with them? (specifically with corona/mac/Photoshop)
-What model/Make are you using?
-Are any recommendations on upgrading a few offices?

One of the main considerations is to have Color Correct Calibration - We will be using this across two offices and want the artists to be seeing & working on the same visual color correct image.

Thanks for any help. All the best.

Turn reflections off completely and set the material to just white. To test, could be the floor needing an GI override. Also send a wire frame + viewport picture of your scene setup

It would be nice....... but......I can just imagine now the amount of full final res renders that get destroyed because some artist has left that checkbox on again....

A work-around but if you use Sini Tools there is an option to always force perspective view or orth in ignite.

Hardware / Re: New workstation specs advice
« on: 2018-12-05, 13:43:40 »
All looks good,

I would say if you aren't on a 10GBE network you could consider swapping;
MB
Asus ROG ZENITH EXTREME > Taichi

Then other suggestions;

Cooler
Cooling: Cooler Master Wraith Ripper > Personally I use Noctua for every build - U14S TR4

Ram
Would consider using Corsair CMK32GX4M2B3000C15 Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4 3000 MHz

There are lots of threads with similar specs, have a look around. You cost seems a lot higher than I would make a similar machine for.

The MX Master 2S has treated our Artists well! Would highly recommend it.

+ a wireless battery time of 70 days!

Hardware / Re: AMD 2950x workstation help

AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2950X
Spec this up to the 2970 if you can (use the money saved by downgrading other components (GPU RAM PSU Cooling)

AsRock X399 Taichi (Socket TR4) ATX Motherboard
The Fatal1ty is great if you need 10GBE networking - Taichi is great if not

Corsair Vengance RGB Pro 64GB (16GBx4) DDR4 3200MHz C15
High speed ram is good but you may be able to spec down to 3000 MHz and use the money somewhere else

Zotac Geforce RTX 2080 8GB AMP Display Card (3 Fans)

Go with the 1080TI unless you need RTX for gaming

Samsung 970 EVO 500GB SSD

Toshiba DT01ACA300 3TB SATA 6Gb/s/64MB

Corsair HX Series HX1200 1200W 80 PLUS Platinum Certified Fully Modular POWER SUPPLY

This is overkill, unless you are going to be adding in more GPUs you probably only need 850W max - use PCPartpicker to work this out

Corsair Hydro Series H115i Pro RGB Liquid CPU Cooler
Don't do this, use Noctua

Fractal Design DEFINE R6 with USB Type C ATX CASE

I find your CPU choice is spot on,

If you can stretch to a 2950WX or 2970WX they are lower GHZ but rendering is so much faster which makes up for the slightly slower speeds for general max tasks.

That said if you are only going to be modelling/creating on it and you have dedicated render nodes to do all your rendering pick the i9 5GHZ or something for best performance.

I like a balance though. Also look at the GTX 1080TI for corona new denoising features

Off-Topic / Re: 3DS MAX - Launch times / File Saving Times
« on: 2018-11-23, 18:09:44 »
Thanks for the response and all the detail! I was just looking at a small part of 3DS Max performance but you delve deeper which is nice to see. Here is some of my findings ect.

I was sure times seemed a little slow as we are using fantastic hardware + I can transfer files to our server at 650MB/s fine, whilst we have network traffic, so why do I have to wait so long for max.

I have tried the Hyperthreadding suggestion, it does not help.

I have tried setting the local environmental values To (QT)UI which has not helped UI performance.

I disabled Control Flow in Windows Defender that seemed to help the UI speed a little bit.

Off-Topic / 3DS MAX - Launch times / File Saving Times
« on: 2018-11-23, 16:43:43 »
Hi All,

I would like to have some base information on how long it takes other people to do a few 3DS Max tasks whilst using NAS.

I know this will vary dependant on network speed/files size/assets in scene please provide this info like I have if you have the time!

I have been trying to find information online and have come up blank & there is lots of outdated data!

Lets start with 3DS MAX opening times;
Overall it takes 43-47 seconds roughly to launch a Fresh copy of 3DS Max to a usable state (I notice the first start of 3DS Max after a reboot takes 20-30 seconds longer??, anyone else?)

Saving times;
An average interior scene, noting special a 15-20 Seconds -55 maps or so on a reasonable size. 0.7gb max file.
(Some scenes can take 2-3 minutes or longer, seems random and not directly linked to size-odd)

File Opening times;
The file that I mentioned before takes 1:30-2 minutes to open

My specs
AMD Threadripper 2970x 64gb RAM Samsung m.2 970
My Network
SATA Supermicro NAS - 10gigabit network
3DS MAX 2018.4

--I know that scene saves ect will vary massively as we aren't using the same test scene but I would appreciate information like I have laid out to get an general idea of others performance.
