Title: Problems with creating of matte aluminium.
Post by: 3dkid14 on 2018-06-23, 10:04:08
Hi! I'm trying to create a matte aluminium material with no luck.

Here are examples of what I'm trying to achive:

And here is what I got so far:

This is material settings:

I use standard noise in bump slot with a very small size and default settings.
I also use same noise map with an output for reflection glossiness control.

Any suggestions how to achive that look like on reference images ? :)

Thanks!

Thought I'd give this a shot too. I started with Chrome Satin Clean found in our material library, plugged in some noise (tiling 80.0) to the refl/gloss and bump slot. Pretty basic.

I would try to set tiling to 1 and decrease noise size instead - that should help to get rid of that quite prominent striping effect.

Thanks for the pickup, still migrating from c4d ;) That did the trick, tiling to 1 and noise to .001.

From C4D to 3ds Max? Usually people moves in opposite direction :]

The material looks much better now!

The reference images have some very tricky light setups - this might be the hardest part to reproduce.
The material looks pretty basic - I would try with just a noise map in the bump slot (with the right pattern), and right amount of glossiness.
