Title: [solved] Cast Shadows Problem
Post by: erkuttaner on 2016-06-29, 08:55:16
When i untick cast shadows in object properties of the boxes , reflections fade out in the sky.
Is this normal?

Btw, this is "fixed" in the latest daily builds - the "cast shadows" option unticked will produce the same results as rayswitching.

Maru, is this also "fixed" for unchecked "receive shadows" in object properties?

No, sorry, but I think that would be far too fake. :)

OK, might be me remembering wrong, but way back I recall Ondra saying, the "receive" and "cast" shadows was working as a pair, meaning that in Corona you could only disable both - not just one. But know it seems that "receive shadows" is always on, even when using a RaySwitch material or map. Is this a bug, a deliberate change, or am I simply remembering wrong?

I don't think this would be possible. How would you want to disable shadows using a rayswitch material?

I don't think you understand what I'm asking (might be me not explaining it well enough). So let me try once more, and please point out where I'm wrong:

1) Before 1.5 daily, you should use a RaySwitch material to disable "cast shadow" - right?
2) Before 1.5 daily, this method also disabled "receive shadow" - ?
3) After latest 1.5 daily, "receive shadow" is now always on, no matter what method use to disable it.

Hope my question is clear now :) :)

BTW - I'm NOT wanting to disable "receive shadow" alone. I simply want to disable both "receive" AND "cast".

I understand now. But I think there was no way to achieve the "receive shadow off" option ever, including any previous version.

OK. Thanks. I was absolutely sure this was how it worked, but I guess I must be remembering wrong.

Regards.

I will check it to make sure, but I don't think Corona can tell what "shadow" is.

it was never possible to disable "receive shadows" in Corona - you would not have liked the result anyway :D

Thanks :) I did do some digging in my old stuff + the Rayswitch tuts, and it is indeed me remembering wrong.

Thanks again.
