[Max] General Discussion / Re: New Raytracing possibilities
« on: Yesterday at 17:10:03 »
Sure, for example Corona and V-Ray are using these raytracing acceleration libraries: https://www.embree.org/

In the previous cases this was caused by running out of RAM and either optimizing the scene or installing more RAM resolved it.
Can you please make sure that RAM is not exceeded at any point of the rendering on both the render nodes and the master?
Please note that "exceeded" does not mean over 100% RAM usage, but rather something around 80-90% should be alarming because of the reasons listed here: https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=17892.0

This is one of the features of Chaos Scatter and you will be able to try it in the upcoming daily build.

Hi Tom,

I'd like to suggest a color picker for white balance like in photoshop's camera raw filter.

It's already there. The second icon in the color picker, next to the regular one.
Thanks Maru. Are you getting that color picker by clicking on color tint?
I think it would be more obvious if there's a color picker next to white balance, since you're changing the frame buffer UI. It would be more user friendly in my opinion. Just a thought.

Correct. Use color tint for this and click on the inverse picker to specify which color should be considered as white.
This is in Corona 7 and older, I did not mean Corona 8 here.

Is the image viewed in the Corona Image Editor using the CXR format?
If so, then the answer is that in CIE you see an image with a wide color space with gamma 2.2 applied and after saving to jpg you see an image with sRGB gamma applied. That is why the difference is mostly visible in the shadows.

[Max] I need help! / Re: Scene parsing issues
« on: 2021-11-12, 10:55:59 »
Hi, which version of 3ds Max and Corona are you using? Are you using any 3rd party plugins in your scene? What is your RAM usage after the rendering is started?

I have some more questions:
and the current task popup disappears
Can you please explain what exactly you mean by "current task popup"? Can you share a screenshot of this?

Quote
The second problem is after pressing render, as corona parses the scene, it gets stuck. it doesn't go past to the next task. it can stay in the parse scene task for hours. until i click on 3ds max and it finishes parse, secondary GI and goes immediately to start the passes as if nothing was wrong. It doesn't happen all the time but frequent enough to be ridiculous. Imagine having to sit in front of a computer as it renders an animation to make sure it doesn't get stuck parsing one of the frames.
anybody have a clue what's going on here?
When it is stuck like this, please capture 2-3 minidump files and send them to us. Here is a guide explaining how to do it (see point 2):

Texture "movement" is not affected by motion blur at all (e.g. if you offset/rotate/scale a texture on a static geometry).

13
I reduced everything what's possible, deleted every models behind the view, shrinked all textures and still have this problem, first report about lack of memory (when gets 5-7 noise level), afterward 3ds max and corona stopped response. This is very, very simple scene, as you can see on the attachement. The model itself has 200 MB, biggest texture has 10 MB. I have no problems with MUCH bigger and complex scene.

Can you archive a simple scene for us and upload it here? https://corona-renderer.com/upload
Afterwards, please let me know here which upload method you used and what is the file name.
We will investigate it because high RAM usage or "bad allocation" errors are not expected for "smaller" scenes.

It can also be caused by faulty hardware, so meanwhile it would make sense to do some basic checks like memtest - https://www.techpowerup.com/memtest64/

14
It depends on what exactly you are rendering, but if it's a "standard" sized interior or exterior scene, then 32 GB of RAM may not be enough. I would say that 32 GB is the minimum and 64 GB is the standard. The more you can get, the better.

Hi,

We replied to you on Monday and sent a follow-up today in support ticket 8905. Please check your email and let me know in case you cannot see our messages.

Are you sure that these error messages are related to Corona? Could you please share a screenshot of those errors? Where exactly are they printed?

I am just guessing, but to me it seems like they are coming from the Autodesk Scene Converter tool, which is independent from Corona. If that's the case, then it would be probably related to using a different 3ds Max version, not Corona.
