[Max] I need help! / Re: Flickering in Animation
« on: 2022-05-20, 12:54:00 »
Thanks. I would recommend the following:
- Switch to UHD Cache
- Render a single UHD Cache file for the whole scene (regardless which camera you are rendering from)
How to:
1) Render Setup > Scene > set time limit to 1 second
2) Render Setup > Performance > UHD Cache > select "Animation (flicker free)" preset.
3) Precomputation: "Calculate from scratch"
4) After render: "Save to file"
5) Specify "Filename" path.
6) Start rendering. Corona will only calculate the UHD Cache, then stop and save the cache file.
7) Set Precomputation to: "Load from file"
8) Render your animation (all frames).

This will not work correctly only if:
- there are some large moving objects in your scene affecting the global illumination in a significant way (this is not the case in your animation)
- there are some large, intensive moving lights illuminating your scene (this is not the case in your animation)
- something like sun moving over the horizon turning day into night (this is not the case in your animation)

This should work fine in your animation because here we are dealing mainly with a camera fly-through and there are just some small moving objects such as the 3D people and cars which do not generally affect the lighting in your scene.

If this does not seem to work fine, please contact us again here, or even better at , and we would be interested in checking your scene file if possible.

I have the same problem, chaos scatter does not appear, gives the same error message.
if you can send me the file too.

Hello everyone! I'm having the same problem as everyone above. Tried reinstalling it many times, and Chaos Scatter is simply missing. I'd be truly glad if you guys could send me the files for manual installation.

Hello, please try the following:
- disable your antivirus/firewall software just for the time of the installation
- make sure your installer is not placed in a network location (e.g. a network drive) but locally (e.g. on C: drive)
- then run the installer

If that is not helping, please contact us here:

It seems that there is some real issue here, so please contact us with your files (preferably simplified) here:
It is possible to attach files in the contact form itself, but you can also skip this step and we will ask you for your files later with a special upload link.

This is very strange.
Could you please contact us here and attach your scene (or just this single object) with the textures?

This looks like the typical "using non-physical effects in scene" issue (this: ), or incorrect normal map, but it does not seem to be the case here.

[Max] Bug Reporting / Re: UVW randomizer error

Hi George
Yes, please see to it that it is fixed, if you can. For architectural viz firm, dealing with lots of displaced walls, UVW randomizer map is (or was) a daily bread and butter. It is hard to accept, that something that worked great right off the bat when first introduced, got subsequently cocked up beyond use. What are you doing Render Legion? trying to outdo Autodesk in their own game? Chaos trying to grind you down? C'mon. That's not what Corona stands for, right?
I am not even going to comment on Corona converter messing up conversion of simple corona legacy materials to physical ones. that's too much. leave it for some other rant. For now could you, pretty please, fix the uvw randomizer displacement issue?

1) I haven't checked this right now, but I think this is not working correctly only if the UVW randomizer is set to "mesh element" randomization mode. Isn't it?
2) "something that worked great right off the bat when first introduced" - has it ever worked differently than it does right now?

Could you please resend the original video? The artifacts are clearly visible, but the YT compression is killing any details. The best option would be contacting us here with the video attached:

First of all, with this kind of fly-through animation and only some minor moving objects like the 3D people, you do not need to recalculate the cache for each frame. The solution is to save the cache file only once and then reuse it for the whole sequence. You can learn more here:

Secondly, I would advise using the UHD Cache instead of the 4K Cache. While they are generally both working fine, the 4K Cache is still experimental, so it may fail in some scenarios (this seems to be the case here...).

And lastly, at least some of the flickering (especially by the end of the animation) looked like something caused by overlapping polygons (Z-fighting). The solution to this would be inspecting the scene and making sure that the models are set up correctly.

Sorry, I do not understand this feature request. Can you please explain what exactly it would do and what would be a typical use case for this?

You can already create textured lights in Corona for 3ds Max (it works with both Corona lights and native 3ds Max lights).

In the last project we had to turn off the displacement of the bricks completely.. Crops for comparison. We've had displacement 1px settings.

This looks like an incorrect texture used for displacement and too strong value. In this case, I suspect that bump would actually be a better choice than displacement.

But anyway, if anyone is having some problems with displacement (like the triangular artifacts in the 1st post here or anything else) please feel free to contact us with your files (preferably simplified) here:

Thank you!

Hi, we are aware of this and investigating whether there is some explanation to this or if it was unintentional. I will be sure to update you here once we know more.

Thanks. Where do I send the scene to?

You can attach it in the ticket submission form:
Alternatively you can send us a ticket without the file, and then we will contact you with instructions how to attach it.

What exactly seems to be the issue?
RAM usage?
Rendering speed?
Viewport performance?
Something else?

Based on that, there could be various solutions. One could be installing more RAM in your current laptop (if possible at all).

[Max] Feature Requests / Re: Light Mix Suggestion
« on: 2022-05-18, 15:28:00 »
Hi guys. I do have a few light mix suggestions if that's ok:
1. would be great if we can link a "CShading_LightSelect" element to a layer. Meaning that the render element will read the selected layer (let's say it contains interior lights for example) and populate the list. It's useful for cases when lights are deleted or added from/to that layer, list will update automatically.
2. an option in "CShading_LightSelect" element to select the listed lights in the viewport or a field added in corona lister that would sort lights based on CShading_LightSelect

1. We will log this.

2. This is already possible: go to your LightSelect element, right-click on the small "+" button, click "Select objects in the scene".

Great use of such bold colors!
I bet you've never heard of Katarzyna Kobro or or Wladyslaw Strzeminski - :)

Which exact file would you like to get?
