No, I apply curves and some small stuff within MagicBullet.

The project is almost complete, I'll publish it soon :- )

Nice, looks like Dwemer technology from Elder Scrolls. ;)

First thing that came on my mind too :- ) It was 10 years I think since I played Morrowind...and stopped with games altogether.

Very nice image

lol, I can relate to this, imho it's completely fine, it's funny how many people just shake head at such times. Even if I could optimalize render times under hour, it would still be wasted time during day, when I can just keep renders running over-night or during day on unused nodes.

Did anyone notice this feature ? "Automatic asset transfer for DR" like...finally !

Seems like something rather easy to code-in yet extremely powerful. I hope Corona's DB system will integrate such thing too.

I don't think so.

But something akin Maxwell SimuLens (rather then Vray LensEffects) would be cool.

One interesting thing, I remember Jeff Patton was able to use VrayLensEffects with MentalRay just because the feature exists in framebuffer, maybe such possibility is here too.

Something like this would be cool as hell :- ) Anyone know of any good plugin that integrates all this within post-work ? I never looked into it.

Yes fair enough, but then, that can be said about any company and any engine.

I guess I was just reacting to certain comments in this thread, since I already saw the Maxwell (among others) forums go down the fanboy path back in the day and it's such a depressing atmosphere I'd really like it if Corona forum could avoid that and keep an open mind.

Tell me about this ! I used Maxwell during Ronen's competition so I found my way onto forum. Huge, too spread out, completely devoid of life with exception for die-hard fans and ignored super-hard by Devs. The Arion doesn't even have forum anymore ! And Octane one still suffers much from naivety of low-level adopters (like every small-time renderers..). Chaos Group is basicly the only forum where you can have serious technical discussion with both real pros and devs imho.
But every Software forum is like this (this one no exception to some smaller extent). I guess it's human nature to justify their choices zealously

Heh, took me a moment to realize why did you post that :- D thought you mistaken thread for moment..

I dunno what they tried to show with their super-ugly example, all I see is noise at 15, even more noise at 10, and even higher noise at 5 minutes. It's faster !!
Why cannot they for once pay some attention to the examples. They only had 30 minutes to test it ?

2Deadclown: I don't know. I am pretty sure I and many others understand DMC quite well, but even then it's imho hoocus-focus magic with too many potato values, and behaves differently often. There are also too many workflows, with each professional adopting his own way around this and it just doesn't look right to me in such case. And when biggest pros like Bertrand Benoit struggle with it to reach satisfying solution ( the top solution, un-clamped, sub-pixel off, linear, with BF engine and complex scenes with every material being glossy) I doubt it's so powerful. But I am might be biased in opinion as I do actually hate it :- )

But it's still funny that things which were requested for ages are still not going to be implemented

Can I ask which are those :- ) ? You got me interested there. I sometimes frequent the forum too but I am not sure out of head what people want most

Imho Vray would benefit from some complete re-writting, but I understand how that is downright impossible with all the features depending on it now.
Like unified sampling. Progressive rendering is great addition, but without simplified sampling (the whole material subdivs vs light subdivs  vs AA vs DMC nonsense...), I am not sure it's gonna be that great working. There is too much baggage from early days and bloat.

Seems very slow for such powerful CPU, 2678 is more powerful than 3930k (which achieves over 5mil/s rays). Can you run the benchmark which is on this forum ?
What settings did you run this on ? Default PT+PT ?

Sounds like you load your HDRi with wrong gamma (bleached look might refer to 2.2srgb instead of 1.0)

HDRi works flawlessly in Corona, I use it out of the box without any tweaking or setup. Just put into environment and that's it.

If you're past Vray user, you can use VrayHDRi loader for map, it loads your HDRi with correct gamma 1.0 automatically, if you use Max Bitmap, then you have to specify it. If you have Max2014 it will auto-load your gamma correctly as well.

[Max] Resolved Bugs / Re: Error creating file output
« on: 2013-06-28, 14:12:51 »
Sometimes this is just Max internal error without setting up any path. I had it qute few times, and I never set any paths.

If this is a case, sample set file output path, hit render, close, then you can delete the path.

Lol, I really thought twice before writting his name incorrectly anyway. BB and BB..
Good to know, I didn't know he made additional shots, I am gonna search a bit about this. He and Purerender are just silent.

Does Corona currently support something likeWARD shading mode for proper metal anisotropics ? Or the default material is capable of equal result ? Does it even need it ?

First person to "redo" it in 3D was actually Bernard Brosdau, who was the only who would credit its origin since it's actually 100perc. remake of POLIFORM catalogue photo. It's not Chrome kitchen and it was dishonest to claim as design...

Anyway, I can only echo Mike, the reference renders from Otto are beyond amazing, the cleanness, and generally very convincing materials (esp. the metal).
