[C4D] I need help! / Re: More fireflies in video render
« on: Today at 10:52:12 »
Which denoising type are you using? Could you try with the Intel AI Denoiser if you are not using it?
I can also see some large-scale flickering on the wall, next to the car. Are you using UHD Cache in "animation (flicker-free)" mode? (Render Setup > Performance > UHD Cache rollout)

Basically, there were some improvements made to the VFB code.

Hey guys, could you please try with Corona 12 Update 1 Hotfix 1 which was released 2 days ago and let us know here if there is any improvement?

Continued via support ticket #336071.
We contacted Asustor support in the past, but sadly no solution was ever provided.

This type of fireflies is expected since a very small light source (sun) reflects/refracts in various materials. I would advise either:
- adjusting the lighting (e.g. making the sun disk larger or "softer" - blurring it a bit)
or
- using a 3rd party denoiser or firefly removal tool

These fireflies will be mostly visible if you are rendering your frames for a very short time. What is your render time per frame? What kind of limit are you using? You probably need to render at least 50 passes per frame, definitely not less.

Lastly, please revert you performance render settings to defaults - GI/AA balance to 16, light samples multiplier to 2. With Corona, you should generally use the default render settings. Usually there is no need to change them.

[Max] I need help! / Re: Strange glass material

This seems to be working as expected.
For the window glass - you are using a material with lowered absorption and a gray color. This makes windows darker. Perhaps a better choice would be using "Thin shell (no inside)" option at the top of the Physical Mtl's settings. This removes refraction and any volumetric effects but you can still control how "dark" your glass should be.

For the pool water - do not use any scattering color (just set it to black). Use absorption color and distance only. Otherwise you are simulating tiny gray particles scattered in water. Absorption is set to blue so white light is filtered and becomes pink.

Are you able to pinpoint some specific steps to reproduce this, or is it happening totally randomly? Does it go away on its own, or do you need to restart 3ds Max?
I am not aware of anyone getting this in our team. I've been working with Corona 12, including user scenes, and it never happened to me.

Yes, Corona Lights and Light Mtl are a special thing which is sampled super efficiently. Phoenix emits light just like self-illumination in Corona Physical Mtl or Volume Mtl. It's pretty much like a GI bounce so it renders more noisy and is affected by render settings (for example max sample intensity).

Can you show wires for both? I agree with Romullus that it looks just like a bump/normal/displacement texture.

Thanks for the quick response.

I hope using daily builds does not cause any further problems about client projects :/

The "use at your own risk" disclaimer applies. You should backup any important scenes before opening them in daily builds.

@anyone with this problem, please share any problematic scene with us (even if it's just a teapot) and let us know what your exact CPU model is.

Of course, I am not expecting anyone to use dailies for serious production work. But if you could sacrifice some time for just installing that daily, checking if the issue still occurs, and then reverting back to the release, that would be greatly appreciated.
Another option would be using multiloaders to start 3ds Max with a specific Corona version while having the stable release installed.

Hi,

Just a reminder to start a ticket with us so we can investigate your issue.
