I usually couldn't give a fu*k about car renders...

But this set is amazing!

Something really, really special about these images. Holy moly. I *cannot* tell what's 3D and what is not.

Well done!

Sounds great! Can't wait to see cloudy Corona sky for once :]

Like this?

disclaimer: early prototype ;)

Woah :o

If you don't mind I'd like to ask an under-the-hood question...

In instances like this, where Corona is adopting a v-ray feature (enmesh is another example, improved sky is another but from Corona->Vray) is the code re-written entirely? Or is it somehow copied across?

I guess what I'm asking is; will the procedural clouds in Corona be different than the v-ray procedural clouds? Do you guys make an effort to copy the features + usage completely or do you try to distinguish it from the vray features?

Just interested, ignore me if you don't feel like disclosing!

As far as I know, the best practice is to copy/export it from the original scene into the new file.

I do think this is a major downside to proxies - they should be somehow saved with the materials but this isn't the case.

Another option is to save out the material and load this into the new scene and then apply it to the proxy.

This is a long shot, but worth mentioning:

I have a similar issue with my wireless keyboard.

Works fine almost all the time but if I plug too many USB ports in (usually an additional external HD) the keyboard lags like hell.

I have a beast of a machine but this is one issue I cannot seem to alleviate.

Good luck mate.

Awesome.

That's a pretty epic water sim you did there!

The fact that it's being developed by Nvidia, makes pretty safe to expect that its development will be dropped long before it will have a chance to mature.

oh, snap.

Amazing job. So so so detailed and precise. Well done.

Interestingly enough, I've just completed a similar project but gone about it in the polar opposite direction. So it's so cool to see something doing something so different.

Yes, but do please keep in mind - this is beneficial only for instances where the physical object actually already exists AND is in possession by the person who wants to put it in 3d.

A MASSIVE component of 3d artistry is creating the UNBUILT world. Thus this has no relevance whatsoever.

A cool tool? Yes. A threat? No

Hey guys, congratulations on the new modifier, the first results seem impressive. Is there any definition or description for the Corona Pattern, as in what new does it bring to the table?

It seems like it gives you the option to apply a texture (or geometry?) along a mesh topology? Or am I completely off? Is this a widely known feature in other renderers or something?

Thank you, keep up the great work!

Check out 'geopattern' for fstorm, or the newly released enmesh for vray.

It's that... but for corona :)

Oh sorry thought i could post that here...

Yes i know, but when i change the y or x parameter manually it never matches perfectly.

It does. You just have to take a bit of time, put in a bit of effort and it will match up perfectly. There is no magic fix to get it to work as we would like it to unfortunately.

Tested out some basic bricks. Flawless so far.

It takes a bit of getting used to with all the various coordinates needed across the uvw mapping, the modifier itself and the object, but this allows for lots of control too, I guess :)

Testing out Corona Pattern.

Omg, love it! Already amazing and stable from my first experiments.

I often have this issue and I usually try to overcome it by excluding the water/glass from the sun. Can't be certain if this works or not, from memory!
