It looks like this: https://support.corona-renderer.com/hc/en-us/articles/4402317843345

Does the issue go away if you go to Render Setup > Performance and set MSI to 0?

If the texture is passed through some node like Corona Mix, it may cause issues in the viewport. This is known and should be fixable. At this point, unfortunately, we cannot offer any solution or workaround (it should only affect viewport though - not the material editor preview or rendering).

If you enable RWS - the material might look wrong in the material preview in the material editor. This is because the preview sphere is not using the RWS mode.

If you disable RWS - the materiel might look correct in the material preview in the material editor, but will most likely look wrong in the viewport and in the rendering.

I would suggest not using the material editor preview or viewport for previewing the detailed appearance of the material, and using interactive rendering for this instead.

[Max] General Discussion / Re: Corona 7 AVX Changes?
« on: 2021-10-20, 15:09:00 »
Hi, please see this discussion: https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=33889.0

In V7, we updated Embree, which now avoids AVX. This may result in higher CPU clocks.

[Max] Daily Builds / Re: CoronaDecals playground!
« on: 2021-10-14, 13:37:30 »
Did you... Did you just slap a new name on the distance texture mapping for decals that people have already been doing, there are even tutorials online about it, and call it a day?
No, this is a completely new feature, unrelated to Corona Distance. The underlying technical solution is very different.

Quote
One of the MAIN things about proper decals is that they need to have displacement and by the looks of it you didn't even think about that.
Can you please explain what exactly you mean by that?
Projecting a decal onto a surface with displacement is supported.
Projecting a decal with its own displacement is supported too.

Quote
Again half a year for pretty much nothing can't wait for the new tone mapping in 2028 and proper working converter in 2038.
Let me quote: "Wow absolutely nothing to say here."

Also, please remember that this feature is included in a daily build of Corona, which means that:
- it is still a work in progress
- we are currently collecting user feedback about it to make it better

If you have a specific vision how a perfect decal feature would work for you, please do share it so that we can improve.

[Max] Bug Reporting / Re: dual CPU issues?
« on: 2021-10-12, 13:23:32 »
I`m imterested in this as well as we are having alot of issues with it lately.

H

I have just created a support ticket in our system on your behalf. Please check your email and it would be great if we could discuss this further.
Thank you in advance!

Hi,

Sorry if I am late answering but I am a bit bussy nowdays.

I will send you the test on monday

Hi Doillo, I shared a simple test scene here https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=33941.0;attach=154014
Could you please try follow the instructions from that post and share your results with me?
Thank you!

[C4D] General Discussion / Re: Perpetual license
« on: 2021-10-08, 11:18:12 »
Hi, no, this is not possible. We only offer monthly and yearly subscription-based licenses of Corona for C4D (but keep in mind you can buy a license for just 1 month or just 1 year if you wish!).

Since pricing/licensing is an important topic, if you have some further questions, I would suggest contacting us through our support portal: http://corona-renderer.com/help

I'm glad it's resolved!
It's funny how something as basic as a plane with shell can break so easily. The fragile beauty of 3D ;)

Looks like a smoothing group issue then. Try to add a smooth modifier on top of the glass. Presumably the glass of the building is one object/mesh (imported).

^I would bet on this

Was the glass model imported from some CAD software like Revit?
I remember a similar issue from the past and it was caused by some incorrect normal values.

If you hide those glass planes and create a simple box geometry, is the circle thing still there?

[Max] Feature Requests / Re: metal materials to non-metal
« on: 2021-10-06, 17:20:02 »
Here is a script that does this globally, for all scene materials (so please be careful with it).
A version working only on the selected materials and/or having this in the Converter would make sense, so we will log it, thanks.

[Max] Bug Reporting / Re: Adaptivity and Shadow channel
« on: 2021-10-05, 12:57:34 »
We already have this logged.
What you see is the effect of using the adaptive environment sampler. I do not have any explanations from the dev team yet, but I guess it makes rendering faster this way (and also makes it looks weird in the sampling focus element).
The shadows element issues look like a bug and we will look into it.

As a temporary workaround, you can try changing the adaptive environment sampler to anything else than "adaptive" in the development/experimental stuff rollout - https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/12000021288

Hello Maru, thank you for reply! As all of us know, it doesn't make our renders faster on the latest passes now, as Focus of Sampling focusing on the areas, that no need to be cleaned. All of us using Denoiser to clean image in the end after 8-10 or even 20 hours of rendering using 20 cores processors. Hope it will be fixed in a near feature and Corona will become faster on the latest passes!

Or maybe it stops sampling in the places where sampling is not needed? :)

[C4D] Bug Reporting / Re: CPU Usage drops down after pass 5
« on: 2021-10-05, 11:59:22 »
Adaptivity starts working after pass 5 and is then recalculated each 5 passes.
What you are observing may be actually expected and the important question here is:

If you render exactly the same image for exactly the same time (let's say 5 minutes):
- with adaptivity on
- with adaptivity off
Is the result with adaptivity on better looking (in terms of overall visual quality, noise, etc)?
If so, then there is nothing to worry about.

14
Caustics are known to produce slightly different results depending on the resulution you are rendering your image in.
Are you rendering IR in relatively low resolution (e.g. less than 1080px) and production rendering in a relatively high resolution (e.g. 2 or 4 times larger than IR)?
