[Max] I need help! / Re: Weird IP adress on DR server
« on: 2024-04-15, 16:37:07 »
Type this into the Windows Start Menu and press Enter: ncpa.cpl
Do you see only 1 network adapter there, or more?
If there is more than 1, it could mean that your DR Server picks up the wrong network adapter.
One solution would be to disable the network adapter which is not necessary (if possible) and try again.

Regarding RAM usage - where exactly do you see those numbers? If you mean in the VFB or in the DR Server window, then you don't have to worry about it. It's best to manually check RAM usage on the node. The numbers displayed by Corona are actually the commit size / physical RAM. The commit size is the amount of memory "reserved" by the OS, so it can often be larger than the actual physical memory and that's normal. See: https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=17892.0

Yes, this is the result of using LightMix - https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/articles/4528606952849-How-to-use-interactive-LightMix-in-Corona-for-3ds-Max

LightMix generates one render element per light and blends all of them in the VFB so that you can see the final result and tweak the intensities and colors of your individual lights.
If you delete those render elements, nothing bad will happen, but you will not be able to use LightMix any more.

Edge Map + Scatter is now reported as a feature request.

(Report ID=CMAX-928)

19
We have a similar task logged.

(Report ID=CMAX-915)

20
Thanks, I will check it ASAP.
(note to self: #231699)

21
We can surely log this as a feature request, but if you could share a specific use case, that would be awesome. :)

22
We have some possible improvements on this. We will perform some tests and let you know whether this specific issue is fixed or not. Stay tuned!

23
They will not. Converting a Corona Pattern to geometry would be as realistic as converting a reflection to geometry. :)

24
For things like legal/licensing questions, I would highly recommend starting a support ticket - https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
We have dedicated teams who can provide you with accurate information on such topics.

Hello, we understand that texture baking is critical for some users, but unfortunately we need to prioritize many other features higher because they are more commonly requested and generally more in-line with the usual Corona use cases.

We have multiple tasks/feature requests related to texture baking logged in our internal trackers. If you have some specific request (e.g. specific render elements), please list them here and we will make sure to update those internal tasks.

@Jens - if you could provide a use case here, that would be great. :)

[Max] Feature Requests / Re: Remote DR

Hi Jpjapers, similar topics were discussed on the forum many times. You can search for stuff like "DR backburner" and it will show you various posts and solutions.

Basically, the idea of DR is literally distributed rendering. So you distribute a single rendering between 2 or more machines.
In case of submitting a rendering from one machine (which is not rendering) for rendering on another single machine, distributed rendering is irrelevant. It requires at least 2 rendering computers.

What you can try instead is:
- Submitting the rendering to Backburner (you submit from computer A and the rendering takes place on computer B)
- Using Backburner with Corona DR (only in case of 1 computer you are submitting from and 2 or more rendering computers) - while this scenario is not officially supported (we can't guarantee it would work), some users were able to use it - https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=27657.msg162920#msg162920
- Using 3rd party apps to submit the rendering on computer A and execute on computer B - for example Pulze or Deadline. I *think* they have free licenses for rendering on 1-2 computers.

thanks all - however now that i revert back to the HOTFIX, it still crashes - but not when i select camera - after or during a render now.

Is there some diagnostic tool i can view or file dump to see where and what is causing?

Did you save a file with a Corona 12 daily build and then load it in Corona 11? Sorry, but that won't work.
You can capture a minidump and send it to us for analysis, but if what I wrote above is your scenario, then there is nothing we could fix: https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/articles/4649117083409-How-to-report-issues-3ds-Max
