a lot of free and ai talk right there

So while going back and forth between cad and poly modeling just some basic shapes and proportional guides were done using cad on this model. I explored blender and it's tools / addons and this model is a result of that.

I'm giving away only model as materials are from corona library and it works ok for this type of model. I didn't do uv's as I didn't want to use some complex textures anyways.

Enjoy.

Rare armchair model Bambi designed by Rolf Rastad and Adolf Relling. Produced by Gustav Bahus & Eft in Norway.

Another excercise in cad/nurbs modeling, converted to poly/tris. UV mapped for use with simple wood textures.

It's not perfect and due to the imperfect weaving work it wouldn't hold well in high-res close-ups. But as part of larger scene it should do well.

Provided only fbx without textures since I used just some basic wood materials that come bundled with corona as shown on renders.

Let me know what you think.

Hi guys,

I'm curious how you think about CAD-exported type of 3D models.

Let's say Rhino or Alias etc, pre-tesselated models. Not messy and overlapping geometry but no subD and clean topology.

Do you use these type of models in your viz or other type of renderings or do you avoid it and prefer clean subD topology?

First noticed in 1.7 RC9 also present in RC10

Portals are not working with corona lights and sun

they do work with hdri though (tested only coronabitmap)

This is pretty bad, cause corona sun can be big source of noise...

[Max] Resolved Feature Requests / Corona Camera functions

Is the planned corona camera going to feature perspective controls (like max's physical camera)? If not, then I'd like to request those perspective shift horizontal and vertical controls please :)

Haven't done much rendering past year (except some furniture) due to lot of scanning and modeling work I had.

So I made a small personal archviz renders just for practice.

Post is done within VFB and images were saved straight to tif with no intent of further work...

If you enable denoising during rendering and then stop rendering you get a STOP error message and right after that crash...

[Max] Resolved Bugs / 1.6 VFB problems

daily 2016_12_01 with max 2017:

Curve editor window stays open when I close corona VFB (have to close curve editor separately);
Adjusting curves is "laggy" (I'd rather have the update done after I stop moving points in the editor);

When closing and reopening scene (with curves enabled) the reopened scene shows curves unchecked in VFB (even though they are actually applied)

And curve editor is always on top (overlays chrome for example, when chrome is active)

I had no issues with IR responsivity with 1.5, but in this build it I almost cannot move objects or camera while IR is running...

Hardware / Spyder 5
« on: 2016-04-28, 09:25:50 »
Hi guys, anyone has experiences with the spyder calibration HW?

I want to buy spyder 5 but don't know if I should take the version which allows for studio matching. Or if I'm good with express.

Is it important to have monitors matching? I don't have them matching now and only one I use for photo and final renderings is calibrated.

Also, does someone know if colormunki is a good alternative? I didn't like their website (yes I'm a bit shallow) and it actually redirected me to a reseller which had large spyder 5 banner on their web :D sooo... I have no idea.

Thanks for any help/advice.

[Max] I need help! / Denoising and VFB+
« on: 2016-04-15, 07:55:49 »
Is there a way to stop the rendering and have denoising done when using vfb+, other than leaving the rendering finish completely??

Now I understand that canceling the render allows for quick stop without denoiser when using corona's vfb but how to work around this when using vfb+?

I'd like to switch to using only corona vfb, but there is better tonemapping and LUT in vfb+.

Alright, quick and dirty setup on a wip model/just freetime stuff... SSS seem to work great, also with blend material and hdcache. :)

[Max] Resolved Bugs / Corona&BlendMat&HDcache
« on: 2014-07-09, 17:59:42 »
Hi, when I use blend materials then HD cache is not being computed for those materials...

Is this an expected behavior due to the fact that there is no real blend/layers material in corona and corona doesn't support standard blend, or should it get computed and this is a bug??

In first picture everything uses a default corona material and in the second every object has some standard blend material... In the first case there is a lot of hd cache precomputed but as long as there is a lot of blend materials in the scene I guess using hdcache makes no sense??..
