[Max] Feature Requests / masking of blend materials
« on: 2015-11-09, 20:28:53 »
Hey community!
With the release of Corona 1.3, I hoped that finally materials IDs of sub-materials would be detected by CMasking_masks... see the attached pic: I need that plastic, print and the silver band on the top left appear on different masks. But they do not :-(

In Vray I could get separate masks and that was super useful in compositing.
Am I the only one to be annoyed by this issue? For me it's very important!

Any suggestion to obtain the masks...?
Thank you!

[Max] General Discussion / render on previous version
« on: 2015-09-14, 09:07:11 »
Hey! I am a happy user of Corona FairSaas, and so I'm using the latest version (1.2).

The problem is that the renderfarm which I use (http://www.foxrenderfarm.com/specs-software.html) supports an older version of Corona (not sure if 1 or 1.1).
How can I save/convert my file for it? Any idea?

[Max] I need help! / mask of blend materials
« on: 2015-05-20, 11:15:15 »
Hello!
probably someone already asked it, but I cannot find it anywhere in the forum...

Let's say I use a blend material to obtain a simple plastic material with a silver logo stamped on it. How can I make the logo appear in a Material Gbuf ID mask? It seem I can only get the mask of the blend material, not of its two components (while in Vray it was possible).

Any ideas?

Work in Progress/Tests / Lady Peel House
« on: 2015-03-18, 19:03:47 »
Hey all!
I am working on a hobby project to learn Corona. My aim is to rebuild the beautiful Lady Peel House in Toronto, designed by architect Reza Aliabadi [rzlbd], while learning how to manage lighting, materials, and setup for interior architecture shots.

Here's a reference: http://www.archdaily.com/480452/lady-peel-house-rzlbd/530c0032c07a802c7600001d_lady-peel-house-rzlbd_lady_peel_house_02-jpg/
while attached you find my work-in-progress. I hope you like it!

Work in Progress/Tests / science of painted metals
« on: 2015-03-10, 16:58:38 »
Hi!
I am working on a scene with some pieces of furniture in painted steel; below you find a casual reference for materials.
At the moment I am eye-balling, and I am not satisfied with the result; how would you approach this type material? Later I'll post some of my tests, in the meantime I'd welcome your opinion!
Thanks to who'll join the discussion!

Gallery / render of server nodes
« on: 2015-03-02, 09:12:56 »
Hey!
this is my first commercial project with Corona (still Alpha 7), and to be honest one of my first works with Corona in general.
I was amazed by the render speed. Images were about 12 MP; after the first hour they were almost usable, and noise-free in 2 hours, with medium hardware. In the second pic you see a 1:1 detail.
Setup was straighforward too (I come from Vray). And almost no post-production needed!

The image is part of a set for NodeWeaver.
I hope you enjoy it!

[Max] I need help! / merge exrs
« on: 2015-02-24, 18:30:00 »
Hello!
this is my first post... I have been using Corona for a while and I love it!

I read in the docs of Alpha6 that in the future a utility would allow merging of images calculated on different machines. Then, I did not find any other info about this option! Was it implemented? I read that Corona exr metadata contain info for optimal merging, but how to use it...?

And what about pros and cons of this method in comparison to distributed rendering?

Long life to Corona!
