Hi all,
I don't know what's the best tool to use HDRI maps within Corona.
I used VrayHDRI material and it works great.

regards

So what's the problem than :- ) That's the best solution right now for those who are also Vray owners. Otherwise it would be clunky 3dsMax bitmap loader instead. Not much else here.

And you don't even need to own a Vray (say a converted MR user) just install a Vray trial and you are running

Has vray trial an expiration date and does vrayhdri that much better than max's bitmap loader to justify installation of additional plugins? Never used vray, but maybe there is more benefits to have it in 3ds max but not to render with it?

I LOVE the Vray HDRI loader. It really has become something I don't like living without. Luckily I don't have to because we use Vray :) But I would like Corona to match it for the commercial release. Just look at the links below to get a sense of what it can offer.

I could live with or without but looking at the doc of v3, I have to admit that ground projection seems handy !

i am curious... to what end would you want to tile or resize a spherical hdr image, or how should that work?

cheers,

chris.

Heh, however weird that sounds, it's not a problem :- ) The tiling happens in the rectangular image, so very simple.
But what's the practical use of that, I've got no idea.

May be more HDRI of studio with a single softbox than a landscape.
To make the first thumb top left looks more like the top right : https://www.lightmapstore.co.uk/prodimages/hdr_renders_vol1.jpg

I mean, that's the only use I could figure...

hydeman, all you need to do is to put wider lens on your camera, i.e. increase fov or decrease focal length (mm).

If you use VrayHDRI loader just for the environment maps, and not for example tiled EXRs for displacement, then there is absolutely nothing 3ds Max's native bitmap loader does not have compared to VrayHDRI. Only difference is that VrayHDRI has it concentrated on the one place.

vray HDRI has better UI. That is pretty important factor.
