Chaos Scatter
  • Fixed issue where using Unpack option of the installer from network drive did not unpack Scatter
Tone mapping
  • Fixed UI delay issue when using tone mapping in Camera with operator-animated keys
  • Fixed issue where right-clicking at the numerical value of spinbox led to reset of the value
  • Fixed issue where resetting opacity of LUT could reset selected LUT file
  • Fixed issues (Non-Standard Format error) when loading different types of LUTs
  • Tone mapping pipeline is now created in every scene, without need to interact with it first, allowing users to access it from MAXScript
Cosmos
  • Updated Cosmos service shipped with Corona installer
General/Bugfixes
  • Fixed issues when using ColorPicker with linear percent value types
  • Fixed crash when changing 3ds max 2023 theme
  • Fixed issue where switching the renderers can crash after loading saved custom defaults
  • Fixed issue where user can't import models from Cosmos when download folder contains non-ascii characters
  • Fixed tyFlow crash when the input mesh is empty
  • Fixed color temperature gamma issues in Color Picker
  • Fixed issue where clicking on temperature or albedo in Color picker without changing their values would change the color
  • Fixed Corona objects (Light) being broken in some specific scenes where 3dsmax does not provide version information for an unknown reason
  • Clicking "None" in IES rollout of CoronaLight now correctly opens the corona IES folder

  • Added support for Phoenix 5
  • Fixed distance map not updating when rendering a sequence
  • Fixed crash when expanding track view of camera with animated tonemappping override
Color Picker
  • Fixed changing of values when clicking on spinbox value boxes
  • Fixed changing of color palette position when clicking into spinbox value boxes
  • Fixed albedo and color temperature changing even though they were not changed

  • Added Corona Pattern modifier
  • Added support for Chaos Cosmos Decals assets
  • Added option to preserve slicer materials when using material override
  • Added possibility to preserve material opacity and bump when using override material
  • ACES OT tonemapping operator is now used by default
  • Textures connected to CoronaPhysicalMtl, CoronaLegacyMtl, CoronaSkinMtl and CoronaHairMtl are now visualized in 3ds Max viewport (High quality viewport needs to be enabled).
  • Improved metals detection and materials conversion in Corona Converter
  • Improved conversion of refractive materials in Corona Converter (materials with black refraction color are no longer treated as refractive materials)
  • Removed support for 3ds Max 2014 and 2015
  • Removed warning about using V-ray bitmap in IR (it works correctly)
Experimental
  • Added support for out of core textures - currently off by default
    • can be enabled in devel settings by increasing the HDD cache size to non-zero value
Fixes
  • Fixed Corona Bitmap mapping in High Quality Max viewport
  • Fixed crash when translating an object + starting IR with hotkey
  • Fixed issue where having black enviro and non-black overrides could lead to NANs
  • Fixed Tone curve editor crashes when moving any points
  • Fixed crash when adding overridden operators when rendering from 3ds Max physical camera
  • Disabling CoronaCameraMod (eye icon in modifier stack) now correctly disables its tonemapping effect on the render.
  • Fixed tone mapping crash when changing Camera TM values in Auto Key mode
  • Fixes in Curve Editor
    • When sampling colors in Curve Editor, the color is now before the curves were applied
    • Fixed Y-axis being reversed when sampling colors - i.e. picking the value from the top of viewport picked it from the bottom
Chaos Scatter
  • Chaos Scatter requires license only when its UI is on, not during the whole 3ds Max session. Rendering scattered instances is unlimited.
  • Fixed endless IR restarts in V-Ray in certain situations (e.g. when using IFL file as density map).
  • Cosmos models imported as part of Scatter presets are disabled for rendering. If needed, it can be enabled again in 3ds Max, in object properties of each of the models.

  • Error window rewritten to Qt
    • Added new MAXScript function CoronaRenderer.CoronaFp.showErrorWindow() to open the Corona Error window when needed
  • Added depth of field to fish eye camera
  • Added support for VRaySwitchMtl (except for plugging in a map to do switching, which is not yet supported)
  • Added new warning when there is more than one displacement modifier applied to an object - warning that all but one modifier will be ignored
