Jobs / New Site Modellers Wanted
« on: 2025-06-27, 18:01:47 »
Hi all,

We're looking for more modellers.

At present we're primarily looking for site modellers but if buildings are more your thing then please also get in touch.
  • You need to be able to follow & interpret architectural site plans (mostly UK based but we work with clients globally).
  • You need to be able to bring in various plans (hard & soft landscaping, engineering etc) and make sure these line up and are to scale.
  • You need to be able to model to levels - following a client's proposed plans.
  • You need to know when something doesn't make sense on a plan and be able to ask us - We're always happy to help with this or contact the client if needed
We will require you to produce work for us which aligns with our pipeline or be willing to learn how we create sites in-house.
  • We'll of course provide any help with this (including screen recordings if needed).
If this is of interest to you please email me at: sean@icreate.co.uk

Please send over your portfolio and/or images of your work.

It'd be very ideal if you could also send over an example scene of a site you've made, just for us to assess.
  • Please include any plans used to create the site (image planes and/or DWGs
  • Please don't include any vegetation
  • Ideally, please don't include materials and just colour code objects (dark grey for road, light grey for pavement, green for grass etc.
If you're unable to provide a scene then screenshots will be fine as long as wireframe on shaded is turned on so we can see topology.

We do require a good layering system and a clean modelling process.

I look forward to hearing from you !!

Thanks,

Sean

Hi, is there a way to have this also work in interactive mode?

It's often the case where I think...... is this actually doing anything & I say to myself 'where's the smiley face when you need it?'

Thanks

General CG Discussion / Render Managers
« on: 2025-06-09, 10:41:12 »
Hi all,

What render managers do you lot use?

We've used Renderpal for years but as it's no longer being developed, any issues I have to fix myself.

And if the server system dies we lose Renderpal as it's locked to the hardware ID.

----

Deadline

Looks good..... and I think is free but there is a load of random/technical info out there that has made it difficult for me to understand if it is in fact free, how to get it, install it , use it.

Pulse RenderFlow (was Render Manager)

This looks ideal, but is a subscription and have seen people say they've moved to Deadline because it was annoying them.... not sure why.

---

If Deadline is free, is there anyone who can point me in the right direction for setup/usage instructions?

I find that anything that's a part of AWS seems to be written up in a way that old & tired people (like me) can't understand.

Thanks

[Max] I need help! / Issue with render system
« on: 2025-05-15, 14:07:43 »
Hi all,  I'm posting this here, on Facebook & the Max forum.

I've set up a few systems from scratch (windows 11)

I've installed Max, Corona, plugins etc etc etc the same on these systems

On one system however, whenever I load Max it says plugins are missing.  Dragging the Prune scene plugin in to max then wakes up the other shelf buttons and they become active.

These are render nodes and all other systems are rendering fine with my render manager but this one won't load it.

When I load the scene in question, Scene Converter comes up.

But I've turned it off.  It's as if it doesn't have correct access to the local drive or something so it can't read/write to it.

Any ideas?

Thanks

[Max] I need help! / Pool Rendering Issue
« on: 2025-04-16, 22:36:47 »
Hi all,

I've just made a post on the Phoenix forum but the more tests I did the more I realised that it may not be Phoenix that's the cause.

If you don't mind I'm just going to paste what I just posted below

Any ideas would be great, thanks

---------------

Hi all,

I typed this as I was doing tests and the results are making me think I should be putting this in the Corona forum instead but I'd rather have as many eyes on this as possible.

I've simulated an infinity pool and it ran with no issues at all.

However, it's taking ages to render.

Some info:

Using Max 2025 and the latest version of Corona and Phoenix.

Doing a 1920x1080 test down to 6% noise

The material I'm using for the water is one we've used multiple times in the past with no issue.

Pool ON with splash & foam ON = 20mins to get to pass 5 - 1hr 56min estimate remaining
Pool ON with splash & foam OFF = 10mins to get to pass 5 - 58min estimate remaining
Pool OFF = 2mins to get to pass 5 - 10min estimate remaining

Putting a default corona physical material on the pool

Pool ON with splash & foam ON = 2mins to get to pass 5 - 3min estimate remaining

Setting the material to water using the preset

Pool ON with splash & foam ON = 5mins to get to pass 5 - 25min estimate remaining

-----

I tried this pool (just the phoenix stuff) in a job from a year ago and it renders absolutely fine even with using the material that was taking 1-2hrs to render.

The only other difference is that we used to work in meter scale, we've now moved to cm - simulating (phoenix & tyflow) work much better in cm I find.

However, I created the following and did some interactive tests:

A blank cm scene & merged in this pool
    • it was taking quite a while to get a good interactive render
    • putting more opaque materials on the pool sped things up

A blank meter scene & merged in this pool
    • I had no issue with rendering this at all.
    • Does anyone have any idea what could be the cause of this issue?

I'm relieved that it doesn't actually seem to be the Phoenix sim but that doesn't help me because of the rendering issue.

    Thanks

Hi all,

We updated to Max 2025 & Corona 12 yesterday

When loading Premiere and After Effects, I'm getting this error.

Opening Creative Cloud when Max is open and it just closes down.

Close Max and Creative Cloud opens fine

Never seen this before so any help would be great.

I just tried updating CC stuff and I didn't get the issue...... Then I did

[Max] Feature Requests / Chaos Cosmos Names Always Showing
« on: 2025-04-01, 14:07:11 »
Hi all,

We've just moved to Corona 12 - Is it possible to have Cosmos names always showing like the original material library?

It's a bit annoying that we need to hover over stuff to display the names.

Thanks

[Max] Bug Reporting / Chaos Cosmos failing to load
« on: 2025-04-01, 14:03:06 »
Hi all,

We update our office yesterday and my colleague was getting this today when loading Cosmos.

The window loads but gave this error.

Failed to load URL: https://localhost:30306/?utm_campaign=cosmos&utm_source=Corona+12.11.511125&utm_medium=3ds+Max+2025&importer_id=e272d4d5-d57b-42a6-9080-f09c7dd2350f
Error: ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED(-102)

He's restarted his system and his Cosmos is working again.

His Corona was working even though he was having this issue.

Any ideas how to sort this without having to restart if it happens again?

Thanks

[Max] General Discussion / Max 2026
« on: 2025-03-27, 10:13:47 »
Hi all,

We're about to update our systems to Max 2025 - but with Max 2026 recently being announced I think we should hold off.

How long do you expect Corona to be fully integrated with Max 2026; or is it already?

Thanks

Hi all,

Is it just me but do 360 images not represent real world scale at all, particularly interiors.  Everything seems smaller than real life.

We always render spherical (equirectangular) top-bottom 360s at 1:1 ratio (e.g. 4096x4096).

All of our scenes are real world scale and I try where possible to make sure that the minimum distance from objects is > 0.5m - but that's often impossible.

I often have cameras 0.6m > 0.7m from the ground.

Is this a limitation with the technology?

It'd help if focal lengths could be changed on 360s

Unless I'm missing something does anyone have any suggestions.

I'd be happy to send a test render if someone has a headset to try it on.

Thanks

I even tried chatGPT:

« on: 2024-10-17, 09:51:35 »
Thanks both,

After a while of testing I found the cause - Anima

We have 2 licenses but it seems to be hit and miss whether they work.

I eventually got the licenses working on the 2 systems and they started rendering.

Nazar, thanks.... The support link you sent seems to be broken - getting an Oops page but the solution seems to have been found anyway

Thanks again
