What gpus are you guys using on the Z9PA-D8?
Wondering if it works with 9xx and 10xx series or new amd cards for workstation purpose.

Working perfectly with Asus GTX970 STRIX here :) ...my guess would be that it works with 10xx series also.

Hi everyone
I want to share with you our new workstation config at work

Fractal Design Define XL R2 Black Pearl
Asus Z10PE-D16 WS *
xeon E5-2690 v4 @2.6GHZ 14c (x2)
Samsung 64 GBB DDR4
Samsung  SSD 950 pro 512 M.2
Asus Turbo GTX 970 4GB
Corsair H100i v2
Corsair H80i v2
Corsair rm 1000 i

* i choose this mother for 2 things. First the z10 version can support the v3 and v4 intel chip. The Z9 cant.
and second the d16 instead the d8 not for the 16 dim memory support but just because of the 2 radiators placement on left and right of the mother board who let us plug water cooling radiator on top of the case.

with this config i have a result of 00:49 on the corona benchmark
and 4331 on cinebech R15

This congif is not too expensive ~ 5000 - 6000 €
we found the best price for the ddr4 and the xeon at servertronic.de
Asus Z10PE-D16 WS / Dual Xeon E5-2690 v4 @ 2.60GHz / RAM 64 Go - GTX 970
Win 10 / Max 2017 / Corona 1.4

Nice config :) but 5000-6000 euros is quite a lot for some of us, who are freelancers. If I would need that kind of power (double then my setup!) I would probably go for used ones on ebay. Like 450-500 euros each :)

Practically, with second hand Broadwell E5-2690 V4 and the motherboard you mentioned + other stuff, you could pass with like 2000 euros in total.

ES/QS/OEM are not 'just' second hand :- ) I am not sure we can publicly suggest people to buy them, there is a risk in using them (and I don't mean the legal part...), and they are not identical in many more things than people assume.

Those you mention, I have few of them, most have locked all-core turbo bins and make worse Workstation chips. They are excellent render node value/performance....that's obvious though ;- ) Yup, machine with those goes for around 2300 +/- euros in total (2500 if you want 64gb ram).

True :) you are definitely right. Many ES cpu-s don't even run with the same base/turbo clock (usually less then retail). But then again, its almost 3 times the cost aaaaaaaand eventually some legal problems (might or might not happen) :P

I almost would suggest them only because Intel is shit company and they deserve all that befalls on them. Intel + nVidia should marry together...

I will be getting 2x E5-2697 v2 for testing today :P retail samples! 2.7Ghz stock, up to 3.5Ghz turbo. 12c/24t each :)

Wondering how they compare to my 2670's :)) Will report back!

EDIT: Quick Cinebench R15 showing 2929cb for now. Corona 1.3 benchmark 1:11, also quite ok!

Heh :) yeah! Server technology is losing on value so fast.. I will get these two for under 600 euros probably :) and save 2670's for another node when I get my hands on some cheaper board :P. Negotiating atm!

I got 8x8GB Hynix RAM. RAM costed me 95€ but it is beautiful, original package with heatsinks. Think that I will order 64GB more of the same kind. I started PC without additional GPU and sound. I updated bios, firmware, FRU, SDU and all of that. Now I have very quiet fans. I tested memory. I stress tested CPUs with prime95 and Aida but the higher CPU temperature was 62 degree Celsius after an hour. CPU-z benchmark is 19786  (12156 for i7-5960x). Cinebench score is 2004. I will put more pics soon. I will make yt video about all components and system with benchmarks but I will do it when I put GPU. I am thinking to wait gtx 1060 which will be released for a few weeks.
