I wonder is there appreciable difference between those two maps? Do CoronaMixTex has any benefits over Composite? Usually i choose Composite for my materials, because it offers more layers, but maybe i'm missing something?

I'm going to shot a bullet in the dark... probably the main diference is performance, the composite map in max has proved to be slow in mental ray and I think in other render engines also, I bet that CoronaMixTex exists because performance.

That's interesting, never thought about that. I'll try to do some tests, to see if that's the case.

You're right difference is there. But for me it's not big enough to sacrifice convenience of Composite map when more than two layers needed.

Have you tried to stack several CoronaMixText?

But I'm with you, Composite map is better planned than CoronaMixTex, on the other hand I think CoronaMixTex was probably though to be a substitute for the standard mix map.
