Hi,

3ds max and c4d user around who anyone help me convert a V-Ray Max material to Corona in Cinema 4D?
The Corona converter isn’t handling it properly, especially with the composite, falloff, and blend maps used in this material.
I’m not a 3ds Max user, so I could really use some support on this.

Thanks.

Can you take a Max Corona material over to C4D?

I can't make out much from the blurry screenshot, but if the material uses native Max nodes that don't have an equally capable counterpart in C4D, a one-to-one translation might not be possible.

Corona does not convert properly as its final result.

Bitmap - this one is easy
Color Correction > Corona Color Correct
Falloff with a custom curve > Fresnel map (you can create a custom curve in it)
Composite (multiple layers, masks, different blending options) > This one is tricky. I am not a C4D expert, but I think the only way would be to stack multiple Fusion shaders or Corona Mixture shaders.

Other than that, rather than replicating everything 1:1 exactly how it is in Max, I would recommend eyeballing it.
