Hi guys,

I'd like to clarify one point concerning denoising and restarting the last render or rendering from the CXR file. When I start Hi-Res rendering overnight and it is not finished the next morning and I stop the rendering, the denoising occurs, I save the CXR for later rendering, and then resume the rendering from the CXR later on, does the renering continue on the DENOISED image, or does it internally ignore the previous denoising action and continue the rendering on the image and denoise it when the render is complete, so the denoising occurs only ONCE as it should? If the process of denoising is repeated several times, we may lose some of the image's detail.

Thank you for the response.

Unsure, but I believe 'Denoised' one uses different 'layer/pass' (under the hood). How would otherwise be possible to set value in post? IDK ;) ... In this regard, I'd love to see "DENOISED" in Multi-Pass.

BTW, you can "Gather data for later" (Denoise on demand after).

Rendering continues from the non-denoised image. You can test this if you like, render 4 passes with denoising on at a strength of 1 for maximum effect, save to CXR, and then as soon as you do "resume from file" you'll noticeably see the image in the VFB return to its noisy state :) The data needed to resume rendering is different from that saved as the denoised image. Also, out of interest on a slightly related note, don't forget if you like you can create one or more Virtual Beauty multipasses, and each one can have a different denoising setting (including not denoised at all if you like) - this doesn't affect the situation asked about in the original question, but it does I believe answer burnin's request for something in multipass :)
