Hello

I would appreciate your help regarding the import of one or more OBJ files.
If I want to import them, I check the MTL file, because this file is also in the same folder. The object is then imported but without these materials. Only a standard material is generated which is placed over everything.

What am I doing wrong?

I thought the import window had the option “Import MTL” for this, or is there another way to import the MTL file separately afterwards?

Thanks :)

I found this answer on Core4d.com (formerly C4Dcafe.com).

"I believe this function has been broken since R25. Mtl files load fine in R19-R23. You may have to load each texture into the color channel manually."

I always keep older versions of C4D for the occasional issue like purchased models being too old to open in current version, etc. If your file isn't too large and you don't have an older C4D, I'd be happy to test it out for you.

Hello @lowfreq84,

Thank you for contacting us.
Please consider that the OBJ file protocol is not  a Corona feature. This file-type is an old file exchange protocol which supports native materials from the host app.
This means you can only migrate standard/basic materials and/or shaders/maps from one host app to another. If you're trying to migrate assets using specific materials/maps from a specific render engine to a new host app, then this is not supported by this file-type, or at least, geometry should be imported ok but materials will requiere additional work.
I hope this helps.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for your answers. I am happy to upload the file here to test whether it works for you. I bought the file on 3dsky.com. It arrived exactly as I downloaded it, I didn't change anything.
This ist the link for the download:
