Hi,

Lets say we setted up batch render in 3dsmax and wanted save them as cxr, the result would be something like, main render: 5gb, other passes: around 100mb each.

The problem is, while its batch rendering, if I press cancel, all of the passes will be 5gb. (I think this is the source of the problem)

Or if I use deadline as render management software, all of the saved files will be as same size as the main render.

The other day I tried to batch render from a file which had 43 cameras, and it was high resolution, so the final cxr was around 10-15gb each, with all of the passes, it filled up the server quickly and the job couldnt continue, and I am not even talking about the saving speed, saving around 200-300gb per render is too much time consuming.

I am not sure if this is a bug or there are any setting to solve that.

Hopefully you guys can help.

Regards,

This is similar to a feature I requested a couple of weeks back about setting the desired bit depth/compression per render element.

A workaround someone suggested was to use the open-source tool "gaffer" to re-pack your CXR's as an exr.
It seems to work well manually and I'm currently in the process of trying to automate it. Will share more if I can at a later date.

Hi,

There was a CXR saving issue with V12 which was reported and is already fixed internally. It is planned to be part of the upcoming Hotfix.
Hopefully it covers this case too.

About the feature request - we will try to have yet another look.

There was indeed a fix related to render elements in Corona 12 HF1 - https://www.chaos.com/corona/download
Please check it and let us know if something is still wrong.

Hi maru, unfortunately it isn't solved.

Here you can see a screenshot (and you can image what it looks like with more than 20 renders)

which is created by,
- started batch render
- canceled it, and started saving immediately.

if we let it run, and not cancel it, it saves as it should(correct sizes).

OR

- Anything we send to deadline concludes to the same result.

For a bigger project, we had to switch to corona 11 again. Hopefully this will be fixed soon, because in the office environment, it is not usable right now.

I did not fully understand this message, so here are my questions:

1. Are you using 3ds Max batch rendering or Deadline?

2. What exactly do you mean by this:
"- started batch render
- canceled it, and started saving immediately."
You canceled batch rendering and then manually saved the output?

3. What exactly do you mean by this part:
"Anything we send to deadline concludes to the same result."
Does "same result" here mean the bad result (1 large beauty and multiple large elements) or the good result (1 large beauty and multiple small elements)?

Thanks in advance!

When I start batch render,
there will be 2 options to stop the render, you can see in the image1.

If I press stop, it would save as normal (1 big file, others are small) (correct sizes)
If I press cancel (the button named 2), it will save it as many big files (wrong sizes)

About the deadline, if we send the project the deadline, all of the saved files are wrong size, nothing is correct.

Hi,

I have found other details about this, but the most important one is:
In case of canceling batch render, there is no output expected (just like regular rendering). So the issue is not (only) that the output of CXR (other formats work well) is big for all elements, but that there is output.

Exactly Aram,

There are couple of  different issues I guess. But most frustrating one is with the deadline, all of the files are big (wrong sizes) and it really is a problem.

Thats why we are still on corona 11.
