Some times when an animation has a empty frame (meaning nothing except black background and no details and the render pass is set to a minimum noise setting Corona can render forever. Yesterday my animation had gone into infinite mode and rendered thousands of passes on a completely black frame.

We'd love to see the scene (https://support.chaos.com/requests/new ) as it would be interesting to know what the "completely black frame" is. Would like to know what hte noise target was, and what the noise for the frame was showing as.

Meantime, you can set more than one limit for rendering, so if you are aiming for 3% noise and you know this is always done in 60 passes at most, just add an extra pass limit of 100 and Corona will stop at 100 if it never reaches the noise limit. Or a time limit, if you know frames are always done in 5 minutes, set a time limit of 6 mins so Corona stops there regardless of noise (or passes).

Hi, the noise level was 5. Background was direct visibility override at 0,0,0 and no mesh was in the scene, no visible noise neither in beauty or alpha from the first pass....basically all black from start. Noise level was in the render increasing for every pass, so clearly a bug :D I will try again and see if I can reproduce it. Where should I place the scene? here?

Using the https://support.chaos.com/requests/new link lets you upload a scene privately to us (placing it on the forum will mean anyone can download it). Be sure to either describe the issue in the ticket, or at least link to this thread for the problem description :) Do be sure to let us know which version of Corona, and which version of Max, ty! (There were some fixes/changes regarding black env. overrides in 9, so knowing the version is critical for us to investigate).

Ok :) I will need to reproduce it first. WHen I erased everything in the scene it didn't happen.
I use the latest version of corona and Max but I will mention it when I send it in.

I managed to reproduece it, even with a none-textured scene. so I have sent in a ticket with an attached scene where it renderers frame 0 forever.
