Hi all,

Recently I have been getting program freezes at the cleaning up phase, after rendering and denoising is done, that require force closing 3ds max. It has happened in 2 different projects so far.
From my limited tests it seems to be rather consistent, and after some experimenting (and looking inside the forums) I found that it happens when the Post tab is active inside the VFB, and/or possibly when Bloom and Glare is enabled.
Switching to the Stats tab eliminates all freezes, even when Bloom and Glare remain enabled.

I am using Corona version: 7 (Hotfix 1)
Build timestamp: Aug 11 2021 10:54:31
and 3ds Max 2021.

From the forums I got the impression that this was a bug that has been fixed, but it seems it is still there.

Thank you

I have a support ticket active for a similar problem that hasn't yet been solved, but thought I'd share something that I just observed in case it helps anyone else solve it or they see the same thing.

When watching my CPU usage all but one core go idle when the "cleaning up" pass locks things up, and that one core stays at 100% usage until the UI is interacted with in some way. What might be useful/interesting is that it is the same core that stays at 100% each time for me so it seems less like a random bucket not completing and something more hard coded?

I tried turning off Bloom and Glare etc and it's still freezing up for me, until I click the UI and then its back to rendering until it freezes again a few frames later.

I'll share any info on here (and the other thread I commented on) if I get it resolved somehow.

I think the reason that one core seems to remain at 100% utilisation is that the program is executing a single core task at that point (I doubt that cleaning up is a multithreaded task, like rendering is) and not because a bucket is still being renderer, I could be wrong though.

Did anyone find a solution for 'cleaning up' issue?
I noticed that this bud was reported for over a year.
Unfortunately, it started to happen to me recently. A few weeks ago everything was fine.

Hi would it be possible to share an archive of a scene where you can reproduce this issue with us?

Hi,

I ran through the same issue.
I detailed it here: https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=37014.0

Thanks for helping me out with that one.

I have recently started having this issue where 3dsmax gets stuck and unresponsive when cleaning up. Was there ever a fix found for this ?

Thank you for the follow-up, to be honest It has become a habit for me to not leave Bloom&Glare enabled at the Cleaning up phase, or switch to a different tab than Post, as I mentioned in the first post.

So I can't really comment on whether the problem is gone, but I haven't encountered it again since.
