Hello everybody,

I read on the corona website that the corona sky and sun should be left at 1.0 because its the physical reality. We should put down exposure in the VFB to get the right exposure of the image.
However I did the opposit since today. I played with the intensity of the sky and the sun to get the light I wanted.

So I tried with the official recommandation of corona website. Seems to get a nice global lightning. But my issue is that it only works with the corona sky in background ! If I want to override the direct visibility with an image of a sky (for exemple to have clouds), the image is way to dark. And not possible to higher up the oxposure with a coronacolorcorrect.

So my question is: how do you do to change the background sky if you don't want to have the corona one ?

Thanks for help !

Use the CoronaToneMap control to specify that the background override image is not affected by the VFB exposure (this will require a render restart if you do adjust the VFB exposure).

Glad that helped!

Best solution I would say varies by scene. If you want more complex lighting with lots of variety from shadows from trees or buildings that are present in an HDRI, then HDRI is better. If you are rendering an interior where that doesn't really matter, since it will just be light from specific windows, Sun and Sky could be better (with a Background Override with ToneMapControl to provide something to see out the windows :) ). If you have an exterior where the trees, mountains etc. are actually modeled and in the scene, the Corona Sky could be better (since those extra details are really in the scene and don't need to be "faked" from the HDRI). And so on :)

As a reminder you can also use the HDRI as a reflection override too, to get detailed reflections when just using Sun and Sky for lighting. Sky should also get much more flexible and interesting in Corona 7 with some new features too!
