This is personal project of a public space design which grew into big collaboration with my town's City Council and the mayor.
The deal is about reconstructing public space in front of bus station and create nice environment with a room for car parking which come later in the project.

In this visualization I present only the pedestrian area around small commercial boutiques/cafes

Situation before: a spontaneous market and not legible taxi parking with amazing background of two Christian temples - the Catholic Cathedral of Saint Anna (built in 1811) and Orthodox Church of the Holy Mother of God (built in 1670)



The rendering presents pedestrian area with sitting rest zone and commercial boutiques area. Since it was impossible to retouch the upper image the older image  was used.

Generally it's not bad, but the people integration is the weakest point. Both lighting and scale of those people.

Generally it's not bad, but the people integration is the weakest point. Both lighting and scale of those people.

Thank you, Maru! Hearing from you means that this render really worth something! Thank you, I will fix the peoples integration. I assume that the worst case is the last image?

2D-people can ruin any render.

Also that Asian lady has a twisted left arm... at least looks painful. :)

Good job what you made from that typical Ukrainian market place.
I only hope that old people will still be able to sell their home grown products.

Looks almost like the city my wife comes from.

Why? The arm looks ok :)
But this proves that the last image is the weakest :( I should have posted it without people!

Yes 3d people are great, but I have only few of them from free collection and this is obviously not enough. Buying 3d ppl for about $35 would kick this project out of budget.
Perhaps, someone can suggest a free collection of 3d ppl in private mgs?

Yes the old people do have the arranged place for them to sell products. The market you see on the photo is illegible and ran by local entrepreneurs, it spoils all the view when coming to our town at the first time

If you invest a lot of time searching on the net, you will find quite some 3D-characters for free ( I do not mean some piracy sites ).
I remember some platform where you could buy even single people, not only packs.
Will try to remember / find out which one it was...

On 3dsky ( no advertising ) they have 3D people for 7,- USD.

Regarding that ladies arm... try the position... its painful! :)


Just had a look... it was AXYZ who sells  - in my opinion - great 3D characters.
You can buy them also as single character.

P.s. The arm... it is doable... but requires some training I guess (mine hurts after the try)

Both 3d people and 2 people have its place in a great image.
3d people,looks good from a distance but can seem fake up close.
3d people is a godsend for automatical placement behind glass,which can be a pain in post.
3d people have the benefit the light and size is automatically catered for in-scene
2d p people however up close is the way to go. If you have a limited library of 2d people
It is sometimes best to first have a look at your 2d people before you commence with your final light. I.e take a careful look at how your 2d people are lit. If most of them are lit from the back and from the right ( just look,where the shadow falls) then that is how you set the light in the scene to match the correct light of your 2d people. It might  seem straightforward enough but unfortunately something you have wrong in all your images. Some of the people are clearly lit when photographed and you unfortunately place them in the shade. Try and play in post with exposure and a bit of gamma to ensure they stick better. Overall images are awesome and I think why so many people comment is they want these great images to not be taken down a nodge in post work.
As for size just render some 1.8m boxes( scattered d in the scene) on a separate layer and overlay in phostoshop to ensure the sizes match perfectly

Regarding the scale of the 2D people I usually put a dummy object in my scene, position them roughly where I want to place them later and take a snapshot into photoshop. Also if you camera is set up correctly, e.g. around 170/175cm above ground level, all the eyes of people should roughly be on the same level...except of course kids and seated people. Also additional thing: The shadows of the people could have a blue tint, just like the rendered shadow ;)

Images look nice, I like the vegetation, details on the fence and the reflections. Were they enhanced in post or all rendered?

In the next project I'm planning to create a billboard with people image material and constraint it facing the camera. It should work!
Everything was rendered except people.
