We switched to Win10 and on one PC the cpu utilization is at 95% tops when rendering in Corona and in Corona benchmark, Cinebench tops at 100%. Any idea what might be causing it?

Tom, I have read it, its some Win 10 thing I can`t figure out. The whole cpu utilization can`t reac over 95%, 3ds max is at around 93% at that time. It worked at 100% under Win 7, Win 7 gives 42 sec in Corona benchmark, Win 10 45 sec.

Not sure if that could be the cause, but what are your power management settings? If you are using some manufacturer app for this (like asus, lenovo, etc), the sometimes have some power management presets installed, which I think might lower CPU usage.

Try to check with process explorer. 1 proccess can't eat whole 100% of cpu, because OS will hang in that case, your monitoring software to show you usage should eat some power too. Just was check at my pc cinebech usage 96-98%, corona 96-97% (1% maybe eat 3ds max gui because by defoult in corona it's not locked and can save scene during render for example) process explorer for example 0.3% and other software what running eat some power too, so in total graph usage 100% but not for one 3ds max

just had the same thing on a new laptop. If i turned it off for a while and then run benchmark, it worked fine for a while - it is some thermal automatic management crap

I figured it was some power saving crap, but all pc`s have the same settings, and only one has this issue, of course the fastest one.

Might help on W10:

Disable CS (Connected Standby) - Gives more Power settings to control.
use Registry Editor > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Power > CsEnabled (Set it to "0")
