I just registered for the coronaVR alpha and I have to say this is great ! But i'd like to know a bit more about what it's meant to be in the future. Is it gonna stay a simple viewer (which is already great) or do you plan to make it grow into something bigger ? I'm asking because a load of ideas comes to my mind to improve the app.

Send along the ideas, we'd love to hear them :) If I remember reading other forum threads, you'll have done this via Mantis as Feature Suggestions, so that is awesome if so!

The current plan is focused on improving the workflow for what it is today. For longer term, we'd like to see what it is that users request most often before coming up with any "next steps". As with all things Corona, feedback from you plays a very large part in the direction! With it being in beta, don't want to look too far ahead yet as everything would be very much subject to change at this point. Best place to watch for news about it is on our blog, and here on the forums too of course.

Glad to hear you are enjoying it, and ty for giving feedback on possible features!

CoronaVR is co-developed with theConstruct. However, CoronaVR is in beta and pricing has not been specified yet (though plans are that there will always be a free version) - if CoronaVR is all new to you, you can catch up on the details on a couple of blog posts:

Hope this helps!

That's what i planned to do (And i already did some simple requests). But to be honnest, I think mantis is great for bug reporting but not for feature request as it does not allow the community to react.

Basically, in it's state, coronaVR could be the free version. This what comes to my mind for the pro version.

First, it could be nice to customize to appearence of the app. I'm pretty sure the first thing the client will ask is to conform the app to his branding (colors, logo, change the main menu panorama for something related to the project ...). If we want to use the app commercially, this is a must have.

Second would be to have the ability to make a little intro before starting the VR tour. I'd love to be able to play a little VR video which could end fading into the VR tour.

Third would be to have the ability to replace stills by a short animated version (Something playing in loop or bouncing back). This could allow us to bring a bit of life in the project (loopable wind animation in trees, curtains , moving car...). A great example would be the VR demos made by BLR for the ORBX Media Player (Available in oculus store. Have a look, it's awesome ! Especially the helicopter)

Clients may have several VR projects runing and maybe they would like to set only one project to be visible (for an event for exemple). So it would be nice to find a way to set what project is viewable and what's not when the app is launched. If there is only one project, the main menu is useless and should be skiped.

etc... etc...

Basically, we (cgi artists) are not the final users of the app (unless you think it is ?) so it's important to discuss what should be added in that way.

TY for the feedback! Definitely the CG artist is not the final client, except at the enthusiast level :) Usually it isn't even the architect, but rather the "real" client is the end viewer that they have in mind. That is how we see it too. Branding etc. is definitely important too, as is packaging what is visible to the customer and what is not. So those things we already have in mind.

Examples of projects set up for delivery to the real end-users do already exist, e.g. Recent Spaces have some good examples :

Hope this proves useful!

Yes i've seen them. But i can't see any of the points mentionned earlier. All we see in the videos is what we have now with the app. Did i miss something ?

edit : Don't forget -> animated demos made by BLR for the ORBX Media Player.

As mentioned, those are things we have in mind for the development of CoronaVR, not things that are necessarily already present in the beta version.

For any project requiring things like branding etc, you would have to currently contact theConstruct directly to ask about that in the meantime. But those items are part of the plans and considerations for the development of the beta!

Thanks!

Oh ok i'm sorry, I misunderstood ! I'm glad to hear that ! You should also check the navigable VR (not real time) in ORBX, it'll give you ideas.
