Are you sure your CInebench CPU score for 3770 is correct? It should be under 1000.

Regarding your problem - throttling is a most likely cause. You can drop temperature significantly by changing the chassis  fan speed in BIOS.

Hey guys,
I just bought new PC for Corona.
It's used HP workstation called Z620 with:

Congrats, you've just bought yourself a major headache.
For the temps - i usually get 75 C - 85 C on z620 and it does not impact performance of rendering.
Changing cooler fans won't be easy, as it uses non standard wiring and would require some "Engineering"

Don't worry about temperature difference between processors in a dual system.

Having dual CPU-s will always result in a different temp for each one of them (might be a C or two, or 5, or even 10) - it all comes down to your machine's cooling system and the way the heat travels throughout the case.

Normally, the one closer to the back side (left) will always have a higher temp since the 2nd one's hot air is passing through it's cooler to go out. I have a dual Xeon machine as well (E5) with quite decent cooling and in 100% load my left CPU is around 54c while the right one is at 47-49c mostly.
While idling, they are at 34c for the left one and 31-33c for the right one.

I guess that the only time you could have them at the same temperatures is if you cool them with water (of course there could be some slight difference since no unit is the same, different batch build quality, etc.).

Also, some motherboards have vertically positioned sockets (top/bottom instead of left/right) so these might have better airflow while using air coolers.

P.S. Sorry for my bad English :)

@TomG: I just checked e5-2690 and it works like a charm : 38min on tested scene.
@mav3rick: your e5-2670 is damn fast.
@SaY, You are right I copierd results from E5 and forgot to change scores: as I remember it was around 750 on i7.
Thank you for help all of You guys :)

BTW I will try to apply arctic silver 5 on chips at the weekend and let you know if temps went down.

Cheers,
Marcin

Hi Marcin, did applying a new paste help your temps at all?

Ive just bought a second hand tripple node blade and the temps are in the mid 80s under load and it sounds like a jet engine due to the fact the CPUs are only cooled by some high speed fans at one end of the case blowing across the heat sinks! So wondering if changing the paste might help bring here?
