Because it was not compatible (or problematic) with some new features, and also it would introduce much higher RAM usage. It was also removed in the 3ds Max version.

Very nice release. Love the denoise feature, although I can't seem to get it to work with team render (unless I'm missing something).
Looking forward to the release of the IPR feature.
