Hi all, is there a way to stop 3dsmax showing warning for Hair and Fur "Memory limits may be excerded..."? It shows at every file open and render, super annoying.

Hi all, we are having some DR issues so wanted to check if it could be network related. We have Qnap Ts-2888x with 4 10gbe intel nic`s port trunked (8 ports) to a Cisco 10 gbe switch with total of 80 gbe, so I`m not sure if it is better to have it port trunked or make all ports unlinked? Problems occur when rendering 6k resolution images with many lightmixes etc (big files) with DR, sometimes slower nodes render faster then faster ones, sometimes a node just steps out of rendering etc. Thought I ask if someone has similar setup and got it to work correctly.

I need help / Epyc Rome poor corona results

Hi all, we bought a dual ES 7742 system and have pretty low score in corona benchmark and corona performance in general. All other benchmarks results are as they should be, so not sure if it's corona related? Do we have to untick some dev options or something?

Hi all,

We are having some really long loading times with big files with many forestpack`s in, so not sure if its related to network setup. We run 10Gbe network with cisco switch and nvme storage so it shouldn`t be that slow. Is it recommended to access network drives via UNC or mapped network drive system? Please advise.

I need help / DR and ForestPro

Hi,

We bumped on an issue with DR with Forest Pro. Just working on a simple interior room scene with a round carpet with ForestPro on it, when its visible, render with DR on takes aprox. 20 min., when its off around 9 min. Also, nodes start acting funny, some do alot less passes then they should (up to 35%), is this a known issue?

Hi,

We just bumped on a problem using DR. Working on a scene with a clay material applied in overide and to reach noise level of 3, a single workstation needs 60 passes, but when rendering with two nodes in DR, it takes 95 passes to reach the same amount. Doesn`t seem normal, what might be the problem?

Hi all,

We currently have Netgear xs716t which turns out not to be up for the job. While under heavy load (4 workstations and 6 nodes) it starts acting funny - slows speed, upon restart won't boot etc) so looking for an alternative. Cisco SG350XG-24T seems like a solid piece, anyone have it in 10gbe setup? Any other recommendations?

I need help / Background photography

What is the best way to work with photography as backplates directly in 3dsmax/Corona? Problem I have is that we usage LUT`s for all production, but that also applies LUT to the background photograph that is in the scene which has been previously color graded/adjusted by the photographer. Is there a way to de-LUT photographs or something like that to have both modeled scene and the photo at the same contrast/color? I would like to avoid adding it in PS in postproduction to maintain native Corona glare/bloom.

We are encountering long files opening, takes 3-4 minutes to open 80 mb file (compressed), which is painfull when using DR (3-4 min parsing). Anyone else has this problem? We have 10gb network, so assets loading isn`t it.

Edit: Charlie has it all written down, seems to be a major problem, would be great if everyone with the problem to join the discussion:

So could be good to have a summary post can anyone prove/disprove/add to any of the following;

Factors the issue is not directly related too. - ie the issue still occurs with a change/removal of said items
Server OS - Qnap,FreeNAS,Synology all tested
Antivirus Software - Disabled + tested on Multiple
Client OS - Windows7/Windows 10 Testes
3DS MAX Service Packs - SP3 and SP4 Tested
XREFS
FTH

Factors that seem to resolve the issue. - ie The issue has not come about post action
Copying a file + assets locally.
Removing all maps & assets.

Possible causes.
File watch system
Assets files locking?
his problem was the bottleneck transfer data in RAID disk read/write (May need more investigation but as far as I can see this is not the issue)

Possible Further Tests
Server Packs Pre SP3 - Tested, didn`t fix the problem
Removing all Plugins/Scripts ....
Testing with a different version of MAX

Check ping with license server. When 3ds max starts, it is not just max that checks license, many plugins also checks license.




Observations - All on the same scene file
When opening the file whilst watching it load into RAM a sudden slow/freeze occurs
After opening this file opening a second copy of 3DS Max at the same time and trying to open the file again (whilst the first copy is still trying to load almost always loads perfectly
Network not stressed at time of file opening
