This topic has been moved to [Max] Resolved Bugs.
This was fixed sometime in v5, but I forgot to move it.

Hi
I am posting although I am using the hotfix 1 which I guess is the daily build from 16.09 or almost the same.

Is the DR rendering problematic again?
I am getting some stange unhalted exceptions and freezing of the 3dsmax.

Hi,

Please can you send the scene and some reproduction steps? Also which Max version are you using?

Thanks,

Rowan

Hi,

I have carried on looking into this one, the scene crashes even if Corona is not installed on the system.

So I think that this is related to 3ds Max and Autodesk. With your permission I will forward the report and scene to them for further investigation.

Thanks,

Rowan

Hi,

Caustics with render regions is a known limitation currently. We have it noted down here: https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/12000056738-how-to-render-caustics-with-the-new-caustics-solver-

It is also noted that Caustics may look different between renders of the same image and at different resolutions.

We have these issues logged and it is something we would like to address, however it is not a quick fix and will take a little bit of time to do as it will require some re-working of the Caustics solver itself.

I hope this information is useful. Let me know if you have some further questions.

Cheers,

Rowan

Hi Pierre,

I am looking into this one, can you just make sure that you have the same versions of Corona + Max + 3rd party plugins on both the slave machines as the master machines.

You say this is only happening with network rendering, is the Corona's DR or some other network rendering software?

Cheers,

Rowan

We have a similar issue. Caustics look different in renders of the same scene. Sometimes strong, sometimes barely visible. We didn't even use interactive. It is driving me nuts. I had reported it a while back but haven't received any real support back then. When will this be fixed?
Hi,

Do you have some support ticket reference so we can look it up?

Cheers,

Rowan

I updated the file in the DB folder, it looks like I forgot to do that yesterday.

[Max] Bug Reporting / Re: 0 Opacity

Hi,

Please can you provide some more information, such as Corona version, 3ds Max version, Windows version and a screenshot of your material setup.

Also is it just that the object is visible in the viewport? Or is it still visible final render?

Please see my signature for the information which we ask for when reporting bugs.

Thanks,

Rowan

Yes I did try that, and it didn't fix the issue. I'm quite confident that the normal map is saved with wrong gamma. Test my described solution out, and you'll see it for yourself.

Regards
Hi,

This time we really finally fixed the material. You can download the new matlib from the usual places or with the v6 HF1 installer.

I'm glad it's working now, however we will still look into making this work when the Windows scaling is set to values other than 100%.

No longer reproduceable in v5 + v6. Closing.

Hi,

Can you please provide some examples? This might be to do with the high quality blending feature added in v6. You can try to disable the HQ blending and see if you get the same effect.

Rowan

Hi,

Can you explain this a bit more please? In v6 we added a clamp tiling mode, I'm not sure if this will suit your needs.

Rowan

Hi,

This might sound like a strange fix, but if you have your view locked in the 3ds max render setup I recommend to unlock and relock the view, save the scene and try to render with DR again.

Let me know how you get on.

[Max] Bug Reporting / Re: Computing GI
« on: 2020-09-21, 14:19:36 »
Hi,

Thanks for the reminder :)

How long exactly does the computing GI stage take on your system?

On my system (2950x) the GI computation is around 10 seconds.

Cheers,

Rowan
