Every pass CPU going to 0% usage and this leads to overall usage nearly 50% of CPU power. I investigate that with adaptivity off this gaps going to shrink a bit but always there.
Is there any ways to avoid this behavior?
On one of our old workstation the CPU has the same behaviour. It's going up and down especially after the render is finished (without the denoiser on); very strange

My synology unit (1819+) has treated me pretty well.  If you are looking to spend less then something comprable, at least look for a synology unit with a PCI-e expansion slot and maybe 4-6 drive bays.  You can access via Synlogy Drive app remotely via windows or your phone, administer their control panel remotely, use as a robust local asset\project server, etc.  That would be my advice.  And unlike QNap it hasn't been hacked recently. 

I've used my PCI-e expansion slot to get their combo card that gives you both m.2 drives for burst writing and 10gbe ethernet.  Pretty sweet setup at the end of the day.

Not sure if it's on my end or with the last three daily builds, the ShadowCatcher slows down the rendering by at latest 50%
Update:
It's not the ShadowCatcher but the ToneMapper when connected to ShadowCatcher that takes away lots of the juice.

Not sure if it's a bug or what, but I'm very frustrated by the following: during IR, sometimes when I decide to move the IR panel just slightly, not hitting the windows fullscreen zones, and the IR suddenly expands to a full screen and especially on heavy scenes sometimes even crashes. I can't reproduce it, it doesn't happen every time, but it happens the scene size doesn't matter. Is anyone having such issues?

Running IR with the latest daily and for all these years I haven't seen the "v-ray" splotches.

I don't like how the new converter manipulates IOR when converting from standard max materials. I think there's no way to match the look of standard materials, nor there's a need for that. In the end i have to reset each converted material's IOR back to default and i would be more than happy if i could avoid this step.

Hi guys, latest build crshes almost 90% of the time and keeps restarting, heavy and small scenes, cpu AMD 3990, 128 gigs ram, ill try to upload the scene.
We're experiencing some crashes with the latest build too, but not 90%. I'd say every 3-4th scene.

[Max] I need help! / Lag after rendering

Hi Folks,
I am not sure if it's just me, but Max2021 started behaving strangely with the last few DBs.

After rendering, I can hear my fans ramping up even more, and the whole PC gets very slow and lags for 5 seconds, then it's on, and this cycle repeats itself for up to 1 min or maybe 2mins.

It's not the denoiser as on my secondary workstation, I have the same video card and CPU, and there's no such lag after renders. The main difference is on my secondary workstation, and I'm still with Corona 6.
Anyone with similar issues?

+1 for decals.
I've been waiting for so long to able to add details ontop of the materials with ease, without setting up 101 material layers

There might or might not be something done, but sadly because some of the users cannot understand that a feature might get postponed when unexpected complications occur, we will generally announce only features that are fully done ;)

Very much looking forward to heavily beta testing it if it makes it into the dailies. Ive got such a need for this over the next few months and currently im having to make gigantic layered materials.

Agree. Decals look like they could be a big time saver. I'm also dealing wit huge layered materials and having to do some repeating patterns on a rug in Photoshop, and hoping they will fit just right when on the fabric.

I can confirm that. I have decided to test the daily onto a real-life working scene with many trees and guess what - all leaves went as metal.
Until further solution to this, I've decided to use one of the old converters and it's been working fine.

Does the RC1 retains the bitmap node pats after conversion when they are missing their texture?

Installed the latest build.
I opened a scene with a few V-ray bushes and grass (the scene was moved from a different HDD where texture paths were not set yet).

When an old corona converter is used, the converter keeps the bitmap nodes (even empty) and has the file name and last path.

When the same is converted with the latest converter - all empty bitmap nodes are replaced with a color map node.
