General CG Discussion / Re: Have you seen Unreal Engine 5.5?
« on: 2025-05-07, 10:01:48 »
Out of curiosity, have you tested Vantage as a way of getting GPU rendering speed, since conversion from a Corona scene is far easier than getting something over to and working in Unreal? (And then you have the best of both worlds, from one scene). Would be interested to hear thoughts from someone who is experienced with using UE.
We have previously used Vantage to confirm the camera path for animations with clients. However, the rendering speed of Vantage is not very fast. For a 1-minute camera path with a sampling count of 100, it takes 5-6 hours, using a 4090D graphics card. I feel that the speed of Vantage is similar to that of UE5's path tracing

Can you open Vantage, goto menu bar > live link and start server and then try to do live link from Corona.

Let me know if this works.
Yes, it has been enabled, but it still prompts a link failure. Switching to VRay works normally

3
is it happening every single time? If yes, can you help us reproduce the issue? Please start a ticket with us here: https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Yes, I have tried on two computers, each with Vantage 2.7.1 and Vantage 2.8. CORONA12updata2 installed, and both experienced connection failures, while updata1 worked without issues

Corona12 updata2 real-time link failed. Updata1 is ok

[Max] Bug Reporting / Re: Problems Rendering Animation!
« on: 2025-04-25, 09:25:36 »
I have encountered a similar problem before. When rendering animations, some frames of the glass material may lose refraction or reflection, and when playing the sequence, it will flash. Later, the solution was to change all materials to physical materials, and mark the glass material as Thin shell (no inside)

We have been fully transitioning to UE5 for producing architectural animation since this year. Actually, I am not very fond of the production effects of UE5. UE5 does not have much optimization for architectural animation production, and many functions need to be explored by myself. For example, the PCG and brush of the tree planting plugin are difficult to use. We miss forests and chaos scatter very much. The production effect is also very strange, with many dark areas being dead black. Now occasionally using Corona feels particularly comfortable. However, the speed of UE5 is really fast. Based on the animation path feedback just sent by the customer, we estimate that we can send the sample to the customer for confirmation in one or two hours. This is difficult to achieve with an offline renderer (3Min animation)

I submitted an error report when Corona12 was first released regarding this issue. I'm not sure if it has been resolved yet, but the 12.1 problem still persists

[Max] I need help! / Corona sky error
« on: 2024-10-29, 06:41:09 »
I tested three scenarios, test01 is to open Volume Effect and Cloud, and there will be a one size fits all effect above the distant skyline. Test02 opens the volume effect and closes Cloud, and the distant skyline is normal. Test03 is turning off the volume effect and turning on Cloud, and the distant skyline is normal. May I ask if the volume effect and Cloud cannot be used simultaneously?

This is not a problem. It's the intended behavior. CXR has post processing / tone mapping information stored as metadata. If you rename it to EXR, that won't apply the post / tone mapping information.
Instead of reporting a problem, can you please explain what exactly you would like to accomplish?
Sorry, I just tested it and found that importing the mapped sequence directly into AE can work. The previous error was due to importing a Lightmix sequence,AE imported CXR, but the color is not consistent with Lightmix, it seems to have lost TONEMAPPING

Hello, I would like to use it in AE. AE cannot recognize CXR format. If we change it to EXR format, AE can recognize Cryptomatte, but it will discard Tonemapping

11
May I ask if this issue has been resolved? I am currently using CORONA12 HF1 and have encountered the same problem as the author, Converting CXR to EXR to use Cryptomatte discards Tonemapping, I also use AE

Thanks for the replies, seems we are on the right track.

Can you please just try with a wired mouse to make absolutely sure this is wireless issues, and not something related to Corona-Max updates?
Is this problem due to wireless mouse? I am also a Logitech G903 wireless mouse, and Corona 12.1 version will also turn into a cursor hand

[Max] Resolved Bugs / Re: Chaos cosmos and Corona 12 RC1
« on: 2024-08-30, 07:29:59 »
Disregard. My 3dsmax 2025 was set to run as admin in compatibility mode. I uncheck it and it now works. Sorry for the reporting.
Hi brother, thank you for your post. I always thought my Cosmos was invalid. After reading your post and checking, it turns out that 3dsmax2024 has also been set to run as an administrator

This is possible in Corona too, but we take a different approach. Rather than choose object properties to define the object as a shadow catcher, we use the Corona Shadowcatcher material - paint the plane (or any object) with this material, and then you can achieve the same result. So, same thing, just applied as a material rather than creating an "object properties" menu. See https://docs.chaos.com/display/CRMAX/Corona+Shadow+Catcher+Material . Thanks!
Thank you for your reply. I didn't have a good understanding of the principles of Corona+Shadow+Catcher+Material before. I just tested it and it works. This problem has been bothering us for several years. Thank you again for your reply. I hope you are happy every day

Just a suggestion, I would advise against using a shortened version of a name that means something else. VR has an accepted meaning of Virtual Reality, which left me rather confused on first reading this post. Calling it V-Ray would have avoided that confusion :)
Ok, Sorry, I will pay attention when I post next time. We are all accustomed to abbreviated as VRorCR here~>_<~
