Hey guys,

could not find any details how corona renders phoenix particles. I have a simulation made in Houdini, is it possible to render in corona? If I export particles and ocean mesh in alembic, can I use velocity attributes? Can I render foam particles as volume or just points/spheres?

Thanks

Woww very nice and very clean renders.
Can I ask about rendertimes and your rig?
How many passes?

Hey Maru, thanks for the tips.

-I would advise turning off "lock sampling patter" in render setup - you would get rid of the ugly static noise pattern, and it would allow you to use denoising in post
I'll try that next time.

sorry, I don't understand - why do you think you couldn't disable the shadows?
As I understand the only way to cast no shadows in corona right now is to use corona rayswitch and use a thin material to fake it right? when I did that I loose the absorption color and the refraction effect.

-the scene where one part of the yacht is going underwater (01:00) - there is an ugly "jump" when the object goes under the water - it's probably caused by:
Yes, we didn't have the time to simulate the water on that scene so it is just a plane with displacement and an animated texture for the wood.
there is no color for refraction, it's all absorption.

-either it's the compression, or there is some flickering in the flythrough scene - you should be able to get rid of it by using pre-computed UHD Cache: https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/5000515648
We used pre-computed for all the scenes where the yacht is not moving, it should be the compression.

Hey guys.

This is our first animation in Corona. We had a very short deadline, so we could not make everything the way we wanted, like the foam.
The ocean and foam were simulated in Phoenix FD, but as you can see I coudn't use the animated mesh from phoenix mainly because I can`t turn off the object cast shadows for it, so there was no way to comp it with the other static ocean.
The interior shots took way longer than I was expecting, but the exterior were fast.

Hope you guys enjoy, any tips and tricks are welcome :)

[Max] General Discussion / How to get Raw Passes?
« on: 2014-05-12, 20:24:59 »
Hey guys,

This is the best that I could make in nuke...
Is it possible to get the RawDirect and RawIndirect passes (without the diffuse)? Someone said that in A5 the only way was to do it manually by dividing the passes, what about in A6?
The way I'm doing, I can't tweak the light passes because the diffuse gets messed up.

Any suggestions?  :/

Sorry for the bad english guys.

[Max] General Discussion / AO questions

Hey guys,

Does anyone knows how to make the AO with falloff like in vray? Also, is it possible to make to use corona AO to make dirt on a object? I tried different settings using consider same object and got nothing.

thanks

Hey guys thanks for the help.

Just to keep you updated, I rendered the 4k image and it went great. I took way less time than I was expecting (2 hours) and it got rid of the noise.

This is the final image resized.

astudio: Yes I agree, this was not my first lighting suggestion, but the client wanted the natural lights and strong artificial. :/   ... but I appreciate your suggestion.

Thanks, I'll try that tomorrow. I made a quick test using corona sphere light instead of rectangle and it got a little better.
If I raise the PT samples shouldn't I get better results?

Hey guys,

here is a new test with more PT samples and lights sample mult to 100. All the artificial lights looks better except for the wall lights.
Any ideias? I have to render the final image in a few days.

thanks.

Hi guys, this is my first post here.
I started using Corona 1 month ago and everything was going just perfect until I had to make a night shot.

This is my problem:
I have a HDRI to light the scene (env light) and several small corona light to act as artificial light, also IES (corona type) in the garage.
This image took 45 min to render and you can see the lights on the wall and the IES in the garage are very noise.
I had a daylight version of It before that, and It was taking 10 min to get much more clear.
I need to render the final image in 4k, so I`m a little worried about the render time.

What is the best solution for this artificial lights? Can I smooth the GI?
I tried hising the light sample mult to 100, but the render gets very slow and I still get this arttifacts.

I apprecciate your help.

Caio
