Thanks for your input guys! Greatly appreciated.
While the 7970X seems like a powerful option, considering the price difference compared to the 3995WX (at least in Croatia), I'm leaning towards the 7960X for now.
This should still provide good performance for 3ds Max and Corona while staying within my budget.
The only thing that worries me a bit is the limited availability of Corona benchmark results for the 7960X. Are people avoiding it for some reason?

Is there anything else I should consider when making this decision, or any specific recommendations for RAM or other components to pair with the 7960X for my workstation build?

Hi everyone, I'm planning to build a new workstation. I'm interested in getting
ASUS Pro WS WRX80E-SAGE SE WIFI motherboard and pairing it with the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3995WX processor. and 64 gb udimm memory.

My main goal is to achieve a responsive 3ds Max viewport and fast interactive rendering within Corona.
I was hoping to get some feedback from the community on this configuration. Would this be a good setup for my needs?
Are there any potential bottlenecks or compatibility issues I should be aware of?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Hi all!

I have a problem with saving .cxr file format. Each time render is saved one big .cxr file with all elements in it + all render elements in a separate .cxr files are saved. It is not a problem to delete them manually, but it is a bit annoying. Is there a way to save only one file with all elements included?
I'm using backburner to render my files so saving a render from VFB is not an option.

thanks in advance,
Josip

Here's a render we did last week for a Bosnia and Herzegovina client.

Software used: 3d studio, Corona, Itoo Forest and Photoshop

There is no wall or glass behind the camera, and there is no refraction that could cause this.

I've used HDR with CoronaColorCorrect originally and have tried CoronaSky but it didn't work.
Meanwhile, lighting needed to be changed and artifacts disappeared, but it would be nice to know what happened here.

Thanks for your reply Juraj!

No normal maps used on this material.
I removed it but not completely with setting blur under bitmap's filtering to 0.1

[Max] Bug Reporting / Sun + diffuse bitmap = weird shadow
« on: 2018-08-31, 21:28:48 »
I have weird shadow/artifact when using either corona bitmap or 3ds Max's bitmap.
It happens when sun hits the surface, and it changes with sun's position.
When rendered without any bitmaps, this weird shadow disappears.

Anyone seen something similar and is willing to help?

Thanks in advance

This is a non-commercial side project, and video is a short teaser, full video is still rendering.
I'm rendering it over night, and since it will be a fullHD  60 fps it will take a week or so to finish it.

@RolandB: I have ~15 mins/frame on dual xeon e5 2670 v0, and whole animation is rendered on 2x dual xeons and a pair of i7 machines. Noise level is set on 7% and denoising is quite high on 0,75. In my opinion animation doesn't have to be as clear as still image, hence these settings are not that high.

Thanks for your comments guys, final animation will be updated here!

Yes, I meant 3dsmax layers.
We're using masks on all greenery for exteriors and we're usually using masks to slightly change color, brightnes...
Let's say client wants to add some trees on existing render, and we would need to update selection/material ID/object ID.
Instead, if it would be possible to add layers as selecting method for masks, new objects in that layer would be added automatically to our mask.

13
I was just thinking it would be fun to have a possibility to select any layer for masking in render elements.
That way whatever you merge in this layer, it's always updated in masks.

Also, it would come in handy that Add gamma to input option in normal map and Affected by Corona VFB tone mapping option in  CoronaOutput map is on by default for both options. I believe most of users use it that way.

BEst randomizer I've founded so far:
http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/mass-randomizer

You'll need to detach elements in your object, which could be done with another script from Neill Blevins object detacher from soulburn scripts pack
