[C4D] General Discussion / Re: Depth map in Multi pass

Here's something I just learned :) You can get the Max Z to calculate automatically based on selected object, or whole scene bounding box - see attached image. Probably worth doing this whenever you set up the Z-Depth pass and it should then set an ideal value, e.g. using Whole scene will mean it reaches full black at the farthest range of the scene. There are similar settings for the Min Z too.

I have just done a quick test and the depth map is now showing, I am over the moon right now (clapping emoji)! Thank you so much TomG, you are the best.

PS. I'd have loved to send a cool emoji your way

Most likely need to adjust the scale - looks like the default sizes in C4D are pretty big, with cubes being 200 cm (at least, in the way I have C4D set up). For me, a couple of cubes needed a Max Z in the 1000s of cm to show up due to that.

Also, not sure what you mean by "actual render with depth rendered into the beauty pass" - it doesn't change the beauty pass at all, but creates a separate multipass render with a greyscale image (white is close, black is far away, things in between are grey) which can be used in post processing.

EDIT - note to self, in case we consider changing the default value, internal 311268425

Thank you so much for the reply, really really appreciated.

I am a new Corona for c4d user and for the most part everything works as expected. I am however struggling to set up a working depth map in the corona multi pass, alpha, reflection, refraction and beauty are working as expected. I know I am missing a checkbox or a workflow step somewhere but I quite can't quite figure it out.

I have attached snips of the settings where I imagine the setting should be with an actual render with depth rendered into the beauty pass as shown in the images. Any help is highly appreciated.

Yes, as long as you don't run Corona with C4D on the two PCs in parallel, you're fine. In fact, this is one of the advantages of our licensing model - the license is a "floating" license. You can read more on this page: https://corona-renderer.com/prices-licensing/fairsaas

Thank you very much for the reply. The link is also very helpful.

The Corona workstation (WS) license is floating. I call it a floater myself just for laughs. What that means is that you can use it on any workstation you'd like as long as its the only one running - So basically you can't run two workstations with one license but you can freely transfer that one license with ease if all the other workstation aren't using Corona at the same time (unless they are Team Render slaves).

Also, you can't use a render node license as a workstation license so those guys need to be strictly in Team Render mode.

Thank you so much for clearing that. That is perfectly reasonable licensing. P.S Top notch sense of humour ;)

I am a new corona for c4d user and I'm quite impressed by it's simplicity and results. Thinking of buying a license for my freelance work, I have a PC in the office and another one at home. I don't use the 2 PCs at the same time ever. Does the FairSaaS - 1 WS + 3 NODES allow me to install and activate the 2 PCs in my arrangement?

Any help is highly appreciated.
