[Max] I need help! / Corona licensing system
« on: 2020-05-01, 18:34:12 »
Hello there.
We are using Corona since version 3.
The current version is 5.
We have a few questions about the licensing system.
1. What mechanism used by Corona rendering plugin when discovering the licensing server?
Our licensing server worked fine in version 3. But starting with version 4, it is not automatically detected on our local network. We have to register its address manually in each account. Perhaps you could implement a DNS SRV record to indicate the location of the licensing server explicitly. Then, use a simple DNS query to find it.
2. Is the Node License of Corona different from the Render Slave V-Ray license?
We use the Thinkbox Deadline for the distributed rendering through 3Dsmax Submitter (tile rendering).
The V-Ray Render Slave license is free and allows rendering in 3dsmax non-interactive rendering mode.
This mode does not use V-Ray Distributed Rendering / V-Ray DR Spawner and does not require a license for 3dsmax and most of the plugins.
Deadline runs 3Dsmax in Non-Interactive mode (without user intervention) and performs a rendering.
Unfortunately, in our case, the Corona requires a full license for such a mode.
It seems that Node License is only suitable for Distributed Rendering / DR Server mode.
Yes, we know that the Deadline includes the Corona DR Submitter.
But, unfortunately, this rendering mode does not suit us.
Is it true that we cannot use Node License in 3dsmax Non-Interactive mode?
The documentation for the license server says that it selects the required type of license automatically. But in this case, we were not able to get Corona to work in Deadline with 3dsmax Non-Interactive.
It turns out that for us, this type of license is generally useless.
Although V-Ray, again, provides this feature for free.
Thank you.
