Thank you both for the tips.

Yes, we started using C4D's masks as well.
I was hoping for an easy fix. I'd love using Coronas ID pass.

Thanks for the tip. However I was hoping there was a non-workaround solution.
We're doing dozens of selections each render. Anything longer than a point-and-click solution seems too laborious. Especially coming from a renderer that let me do just that.

Sure. I've attached a crop.
I used filtering as I'm working in Photoshop. I understand Nuke for instance prefers aliased selections and does the anti-aliasing after the fact. However, that's not an option for us.

I know about the Teamrender issue, thank you. However, the issue I'm having is with renders on a single machine.

I have trouble getting a clean Photoshop-Selection from the material ID pass. I'm coming from Vray where I never had that problem.
Am I the only one experiencing this issue?

Thank you in advance!

Quick question:
I noticed rendering a lot of trees in fore- and middle ground is quite slow.
Are other people experiencing the same? Why is that? If so, what are some of your tricks to speed up rendering?

Thanks in advance!

thank you for that illab.
i disagree with some parts - but i don't want to start a tr argument here.

i guess what i really wanted to say is just this:
with vrayforc4ds dr system many c4d features had to be substituted. i would very much regret that.

teamrender is unusable for that and very bad workflow

Can you elaborate?

I'm sorry but I strongly disagree.
I agree that Teamrender isn't implemented perfectly yet, but I'd very much prefer Teamrender over something like a VRay DR equivalent.
One thing I love about Corona is how it tries to tightly integrate into its host app. I realize that there need to be workarounds where Cinema just doesn't have a particular feature but Teamrender is hardly a "missing feature", in my opinion.

The "save cxr saving support in picture viewer" has been moved to preliminary plans.
Could you make an estimate as to when this feature will be available?

Thanks in advance!

That never occurred to me.
Up until now, I used the clipping feature in c4d's camera for this. With its obvious drawbacks. So, thank you for that.

However, in my test I noticed that one doesn't even need the normal direction shader for this to work. A simple transparent material works just fine, when assigned to either side (front or back, depending on your normal direction) and your wall material to the other side.

[C4D] General Discussion / Teamrender and RAM

I feel like this might have been answered before but a forum search wasn't successful.

When Teamrendering, do the clients need as much memory as the server? If not, how much less do the clients need?
We have to upgrade since we're constantly running out of memory. Our hope is to only have to upgrade one machine, since most of our renders are via teamrendering.

Many thanx in advance!
