[Max] I need help! / Re: Roughness
« on: 2025-07-25, 07:14:34 »
So I opened a new file and tried with the same parameters, which should of course work... and of course they do.

So, no idea what's going on. I know the original file was getting a little leggy (not sure why; not large) as I've been working on it. I've found with Vray and now Corona, that when it starts getting like that, things just stop working as they should... which is frustrating.

I should know better by now, but I still comb and search thru everything wondering why... what could be wrong... what have I done...!

1. I've placed the map into the base color slot for reference - its what the rough should look like.
2. Map is placed into the base rough @ 100 (map options base rough)
3. Map is still in base rough @ 0 (map options base rough)

Why can't I see the map?

Thanks for getting back to me and sorry for the delay!

I wanted to keep the reflections in the glass, which was only possible if I used the same background. So I guess, I was looking for a masking type solution... I've been testing out corona recently coming from Vray, so I wasn't sure how to achieve this in Corona.

I forget how I did it, but I think I rendered without the glass and made sure all the geometry was masked out, then with the glass and just PS'd it? Something like that anyway.

Is there a way in Corona where you can have the HDR only visible in reflections? From what I remember, it seemed like as soon as you have a glass wall in-between the camera it gets complicated?

Is there a way to achieve this for an interior shot where there is glass in-between the camera and environment? seems to only work if I hide the glass, but I want the reflection...

Small piece of a larger project, but showing how red cladding might look for the laneway house (which I'm pushing for!)

I haven't tried collapse, will test out.

Romullus: What do you mean? 3ds file over screen shot?

I know there are work arounds to this and maybe that is the solution... can just get time consuming. Hoping there is something I'm just missing or doing incorrectly

Normals are correct and still the verts won't weld? This is 2 objects that have been attached to each-other.
This seems to happen here and there and I can never figure it out. I've just deleted and started over again, but I'd love to avoid that if I can. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

I'm using Max2018

Thanks for the reply.

I'm not sure what I'm doing that would reset the coordinates. Would collapsing the stack after all changes preserve them?
