I need some help please.

So I am finding a few issues with 3DS MAx 2025 and Corona 12.

They are:

Renders look dark in preview rendering but look fine when saved out.

They can also look OK in windows picture viewer but when opening them into InDesign which we use for our presentations the renders are really dark.

How do I fix this?

Our 3DS Max 2025 is set up to Gamma 2.2. Is there a setting that needs to change or something in the frame buffer I need to add?

I used to be from max 2024 renders looked the same no matter what you used to view them.

Is it possible to use a pre made C4D corona material in 3DS Max?

I was on the roadmap was back in v6 there was a card for C4D to 3DSMax comaptibility?

I only ask as I am finding some really good Corona materials but they have all been made in C4D.

OK. So I tired uninstalling and reinstalling the license server but it still failed. I tried again but clicked log in a different way which worked. I have no idea why  the other way worked and not the way you do as part of the install

I know this is the correct place to post this but the Chaos help us dreadful, no one to call and waiting for a reply is costing my team money.

Its happened to two users now.

I've uninstall Corona deleted the license server files, reinstalled it all, it just keeps f**king saying it cant access license server log in, but I AM logged in, but when I say take me to the license server it takes me to a page which doesn't show that machine as logged it.

This is seriously stressing me out and I try and do it offline but I cant find the csr files anywhere.

I seriously need some help

[Max] General Discussion / Corona 8 License Server Issues - Please Help

So our team of 8 visualisers has upgraded to Corona 8. The problem we are having is that if I open a brand new max scene, switch the rendered to Corona, it lets me render but if I go into the Scene tab it says 'Chaos Corona license not found. Please go to System tab to activate it'.

Why is this happening?

If I open any file we have already worked on it renders fine and lets me get to all the setting but if I do it with a new blank Max file it wont.

I go to the Chaos log in it says we only have 3 active licenses but this cant be true. We have 8 users all of which user and render with Corona at the same time. Can I ask what the hell is going ion? Am I misunderstanding something? We should have 8 individual licenses not only 3 and if we have three how can all 8 users render at the same time? Surely that cant happen?

This has all gone pear shaped since it moved to the my.chaos.com and its frustrating as I cant make head nor tails of it.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Under the Licensing Tab it says we have 3 Corona 3DS Max Interface licences and 10 Render not licenses.

Just so I understand this correctly.

Each subscription is for 1 user only, but the license is floating so can be used by anywho is loged into said account? Just not at the same time?

Here is my sofa model.

Please find attached a couple of renders in a simple HDRI lit scene with a screenshot of my materials I've used and how the model looks in wireframe.

Also with displacement, is the correct way in Corona to add the Corona Displacement modifier to the stack and then link the bitmap I want to use to create the displacement? Because if I try and link a bitmap to the displacement slot in a Corona material nothing seems to happen.

Also I am missing a texture for the seams on the sofa. I'm currently unwrapping them and will texture soon.

Hi Maru,

Thank you for the feedback.

I will take some screenshots on the materials I was using in my last setup.

I've made a point of rendering everything in a plain white material atm to get the lighting down.

If I am to add an AO layer to my render and use it to add dirt to the scene how do I do this?

I understand about my ojects being smooth but would this be overcome by good materials/textures and using the correct glossiness and bump?

What I plan to do is take each model in the scene and then create the materials for them one by one. Rendering say the sofa on its own until I looks right and then add each item back into the scene

mferster I used your settings and got the following results.

I've only used Corona Sun/Sky.

I tried it in a few different postions and played with the exposure.

I'm not looking to 100% match the lighting in the photo/render I just want to learn how to get good lighting and a good balance.

I've noted the exposure settings in the image file names.

OK guys. Thank you for the feedback. When I get into work tomorrow I will do some more test renders with Corona Sun/Sky and share the results.

Should I add a HDRI map into he reflection and refraction override slots so I get better reflections etc?

Thank you for your feedback guys.

I think this is why I am struggling. I was following the interior tutorial on Corona's Youtube page and and his set up is just a HDRI map for the lighting.

Is it better to go with Corona Sun/Sky and then use a HDRI map in the reflection and refraction override slots to get more detail that way?

Again with the materials in the tutorial his materials arent that advanced and I even copied his process for the sofa material, yet his results just seem a lot better.

Would it be best to white everything out and concerntrate on getting the lighting right first?
