A church guesthouse

3d visualization for planning application for the local church guesthouse

I've always been captivated by the stark contrast of deep, dark exteriors against vibrant skies and lush greenery. This black timber house might appear striking at first glance, perhaps even a touch ominous to some observers. But is it truly?

With its minimalist design, clean lines, and a matte black finish that absorbs sunlight like a stealthy shadow amidst the forest, it exudes a sense of modernity, groundedness, and elegance to me. Yet, I understand that not everyone envisions their home akin to a scene from a Nordic noir series.

So, what's your take? Is this architectural statement a daring venture worth pursuing, or does it risk being perceived as a somber structure too intense for everyday living?

Would you consider living in such a house?

🟡 The Unexpected Gift of a Vague Brief ✨

Sometimes, a client sends me just a few lines.  No detailed reference folder.  No endless list of “must-haves.”
 Just:
“We want a cozy family house in the countryside.”

And honestly? That’s when the real magic begins. Because vague briefs aren't lazy.  They’re an open door.
 A quiet invitation to imagine the world from scratch.
🌱 A short brief means freedom.
 No constraints, no box to fit in. Just vibes, intuition, and exploration. I get to play with mood, light, framing — even invent the story behind the space.
💡 “Who lives here?”
 “Is it morning coffee or late evening wine?”
 “Are there muddy boots by the door, or a dog waiting on the porch?”
That’s when I stop just rendering and start creating.
Sure, it's a challenge. But it’s also a playground.
 A vague brief asks: what would you do, if no one told you what to do?
And I love that.

Carstone in Norfolk: more than just a wall

This charming old house built with local reddish stone is a classic example of East England architecture, especially in Norfolk. Carstone isn’t just a façade material. It’s a statement. You can recognize it instantly – warm, rusty-brown, textured, and full of character.

For this render, my goal wasn’t just to recreate the building’s shape, but to capture its material presence. Stone like this has its own story, texture, and even mood — and a good visual must reflect all of that.

I focused on:
 - tonal variety in the stonework;
 - subtle unevenness of surfaces;
 - how the material behaves in natural light;
 - authentic pointing and masonry layout.

These subtle details make the difference between a "nice image" and a space that feels real, believable, and full of history.

The image was created based on a photo of Villa Icaria by Imagen Subliminal. Villa Icaria aims to blend rural and urban life, inspired by Étienne Cabet's utopian ideas. It integrates into nature along the Tagus River, with its architecture combining stone and organic elements with glass and light.

Case study: using Pantone Color of the year 2024 - Peach Fuzz - in the interior design.

In this setting, Peach Fuzz is used to infuse warmth and tranquility into the ambiance. It adorns the plush sofa cushions, providing a soft and inviting contrast to the sleek lines of the car. Additionally, decorative elements such as industrial-looking pedants feature hints of Peach Fuzz, adding subtle pops of color that tie the room together.
The Porsche car serves as both a centerpiece and a conversation starter, highlighting the intersection of luxury and design within the space. Its glossy exterior reflects the soft glow of the Peach Fuzz accents, creating a harmonious visual balance.
Overall, this living room exudes industrial style and modernity, with PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz adding a timeless touch of warmth and elegance to the luxurious surroundings.
