Chaos Corona for Blender / The Future
« on: 2017-08-31, 01:58:54 »
With the Chaos Group takeover of Corona does that mean it's likely Corona for Blender is nearing the end?

Ah I see the0.001 power makes sense. I keep thinking Cycles method and it's throwing me curve balls.

3
Everything really. But for this case just a wood floor with diff, gloss and normal maps. Plugging the normal map into the bump slot seems to totally overpower the material and I have to set the strength to 0.001 in the node. This seems really odd.

4
Would anyone mind just showing me a screenshot of their material node setup? I can't seem to find a setup that works well or have much control.

Funny you mention difficult scenes as in the middle of a project that I'm relying on Cycles for and it's taking much time to render anything cleanly even with desnoising. Was hoping I could use Corona but I don't know if it's ready..

5
Dude that's a nice clean image you got there. Does the floor have a normal map? I can't seem to get my normal maps to work at all and have any control over them.

When using the displace modifier does Corona know to export it without you having to apply the modifier first?

Just found this thread https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=13414.0

Looks like you can't save the lightmix and post with the denoise and beauty image. So what I need to work out is how to enable denoising to all the lightmix elements.

I see. I was thinking that when I save the image after making changes none of the lightmix settings remain in the image. As soon as I go back to the Beauty tab all colour and values revert back to the post tab. I can save the lightmix image but then the denoising isn't being used on that layer. As a test I set all the light mix levels to a very low level so almost dark, then switched back to the Beauty tab and none of the darkness was used from the light mix.

Thank you. Yes I thought it was a bug. Good to know I'm not going crazy.

Chaos Corona for Blender / Lightmix Tonemapping and Beauty
« on: 2017-07-03, 06:43:28 »
When rendering how to I make sure my changes to the tone mapping and lightmix are both kept when I export as Beauty? When I save as all the edits in tone mapping and light mix are gone.

The light group seems very useful but I don't know if it's a bug but when I use a sun lamp and then try to change the sun in the render phase it's the environment tab and not the sun tab that changes the sun intensity. Almost like it's got crossed over.

One more thing, here's a picture of my nodes in Blender for a basic material using 3 textures, diffuse, glossy and normal map. However it doesn't show the gloss correctly and the normal map isn't working well. http://imgur.com/CFz0cVG Did I use a wrong slot or do I need to add some extra nodes to invert the glossy and for the normal map?

Thank you for replying :)

I've looked at Chocofur's website and love his work. The guy clearly understands how to make good images in Blender.

So a new question or two is, Is the Blender/Standalone free to sue or do I have to pay? (which I don't mind doing) as I noticed it says in the command line prompt it is the demo version and finishes 11th July.

My other questions refers to lighting an interior scene. Do people use a HDR and a sun lamp? It seems like there's a lot less options for settings compared to Cycles as you mentioned.

Thanks for helping.

Chaos Corona for Blender / Node Setup

Hey!

I'm super new to Corona after having used Cycles for a while but seeing some of the images produced by this renderer had to make me try it but I have a couple of questions.

Is there any guide or documentation on how to use the nodes for textures and materials? I've looked but it seems like it's mostly all for Cinema 4D or Max and not Blender. Or do they all work the same? Can Corona use PBR workflow generated from Substance?

I worked out that the plugin can use cycles like nodes but the naming conventions are different so it's a bit confusing. I often use a diffuse, gloss, normal and disp maps if in Cycles.

All my scenes being built with Cycles in mind has kind of made this a tricky transition to get right. I have so many questions but I'll how with these for now.
