Our first images with Corona Renderer 7 RC1.

A big thank you to the development team of Corona. We are very impressed with the new workflow improvements and looking forward to testing further.

Realism on another level!

Hi Rowan,

I double-check and my windows are up to date. I also reinstalled Corona 5 with custom settings and the latest NvidiaAiDenoiser (the problem is not fixed)

Full Spec:
Processor: AMD Ryzen 1950X 16 Core 3.39GHz
Memory: 128GB 1333MHz
Graphic Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 8GB
Windows 10 Pro

Let me know if you need any additional information.

Thanks,
Nikos

Hi,

It's actually happening even with a single box and a single light. If I don't press setup lightmix I can move the light without any issue.

After I press setup lightmix and run the IR the frame buffer will turn on and off when I move the light around, like the video I send you yesterday.

Thanks,
Nikos

Hi,

I can't replicate the issue at home but it's always happening at my computer at work.

I'm using 3ds Max 2018 with Windows 10 Pro. My graphic card is Geforce GTX with driver 441.12.

I don't have the scene but I will create one now and share it with you.

Thanks,
Nikos

Hello Everyone,

I'm having a weird issue with interactive rendering and setup lightimix on a very basic scene with default settings.

I add a box with displacement and some lights and then I press setup lightmix in the corona toolbar.

The frame buffer with IR was turning on and off when I was moving the light around but it was fine when I was moving the object around.

Can you please run some tests as well to confirm that you have the same problem? I manage to replicate the issue on a new scene today.

Here is the video with the problem: https://www.dropbox.com/s/86s0vxwxbxe8w39/IMG_1514.MOV?dl=0

Let me know your thoughts.

Best,
Nikos

Yeah, I have it as well :)

It's a great script but it would be awesome the Corona Camera to have it implement it.

Camera lister would be very useful as well, I forgot to add it on my list yesterday.

Some improvements that we would like to see in Corona 5 :)

Lights, LightMix
- Option to save/load LightMix per Camera
- LightMix - "Swap" feature for colors, not just copy
- Color palettes for LightMix, option to save and load them back at anytime
- Right-click LightMix items to rename lights
- Support for negative light values in Standard 3ds Max lights ("painting with shadows" - like in scanline renderer)
- Compare different post-processing, LightMix with the VFB history (Corona VFB and CIE)
- LightMix - Add self-illuminated objects as LightMix items

IR
- Lock IR resolution

Toolbar, Lister
- List light instances as a single item in the lister

Corona Cameras
- Diffrent resolution and image aspect per camera

Other
- Inverse gamma spinner in Corona BItmap
- Noise level is sometimes inconsistent
- "Stats" tab in CIE
- Masking objects behind refractive glass
- Preserve opacity in scene material overrides
- Slicer/clipper - Ability to control the "inside" material (edge of the sliced object)

Thanks,
Nikos

LightMix is a very powerful tool and we need to have the option to load that file per camera. The same way you have the option to load the Tone Mapping per camera.

That option will save us a lot of time in production and will improve our workflow.

Thanks,
Nikos

Thanks for stabilizing VFB max undocked. PLS, a step-less zoom, or 'fit to screen' option?

Fit to screen option will be awesome and very useful to have.

That's a really interesting project. I'll be looking forward to the rest of the sets.
I have never though about 3d software being used for theater stage design, and I think it makes a lot of sense as stages are more "hermetic" than for example architectural interiors (think about that black walls and no lights around). I also do not recall any similar projects. It could be an attractive business opportunity. :)

Thank you for the great feedback. I was surprised when I found out that most universities/colleges still using physical models instead of 3d software for theater stage design. It's so much easier and faster to express your vision and explore the space on a 3d software compared to a real physical model and with the power of LightMix you have the creative freedom to tell your story and change the lighting conditions from day to night with one single render. I should look deeper on that exciting new business opportunity and will keep you posted with the rest of the sets :)

Hello Everyone,

This is my first ever post in the forums so I'm pretty excited about that :)

I would like to share with you some visuals I did for my MA in stage design. We have to choose and design 3 plays till the summer and that's my first one called ''Waiting for Godot''

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and promise to keep you posted with my work. All done with 3ds Max and Corona, I didn't have to do any post production since Corona Image Editor is so damn powerful ;)

Some info about the play:
Waiting for Godot is a play by Samuel Beckett, in which two characters, Vladimir and Estragon, wait for the arrival of someone named Godot who never arrives, and while waiting they engage in a variety of discussions and encounter three other characters.
